YOGA THERAPY • Yoga is usually found in the Physical Education &

Sports departments of many universities• We at CYTER have it in a medical institution – enhancing the learning curve of our trainees – enabling us to offer holistic benefits for patients

• Daily consultations in OPD, with individual and group sessions at CYTER

• Yoga consultations in all Master Health checkups by our Hospital services

• Quality of life enhancing benefits for more than 8000 patients in MGMC&RI, Pondicherry.

YOGA EDUCATION• PG Diploma in Yoga Therapy (PGDYT) is one of the

only such courses offered through a medical institution • Uniting ancient wisdom of Yoga with evidence based

approach of modern medicine. • Two batches of students enrolled • International interest in the course.• Regular training for nursing students, faculty members,

senior citizens, special children and TG population. • Special sessions for MBBS students. CYTER model can

be adopted by all innovative medical colleges when new MCI regulations are implemented.

YOGA RESEARCH• Basic and applied research is being carried out on

various yogic techniques in different populations and conditions.

• Published 33 papers, review articles & 10 abstracts on the short and long term, health enhancing benefits of such training and therapeutic programmes in patients and healthy volunteers.

• Current inter-disciplinary studies are focusing on computer vision syndrome, dermatology, pulmonology and transgender community.

COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT • Workshop-cum-Seminars on “Yoga for lifestyle

disorders” and “Sleep, consciousness and meditation: neurological correlates” > 300 medical, paramedical, yoga professionals, students & international delegates in November 2013 and 2014.

• Regular awareness programmes conducted in the community at Pondicherry Education Dept, various schools, colleges, senior citizen welfare associations, medical and social associations locally.

• Interactive Yoga Therapy workshops during International Yoga Festival organized by the Govt of Pondicherry in 2014 and 2015.

CHARTING A NEW PATH• Govt of India, Ministry of Health promotes indigenous

systems strongly through AYUSH. • Holistic integration of Yoga and modern medicine

enables best quality patient care as the limitations of one are the strength of the other.

• Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth University provides a supportive and innovative milieu where Yoga, our cultural heritage, reaches everyone optimally, effectively & holistically.

• CYTER can be nodal centre to train medical educators & administrators to set up Integrative Health Centers as we have necessary infrastructure and man power.
