OUR MORTGAGE CHALLENGE
To raise $75,000.00 by October

challenge
If we meet the Challenge we will
REDUCE our mortgage by
$150,000.00 and RENEW on
November 30th 2013 for
$374,000.00.
which will
REDUCE mortgage payments
from $4877.00 to $2715.00 a
month
Keeping in mind
Beginning in January 2014
We will most probably no longer qualify for the $1500.00 a MONTH we now receive in Synod Support.
however
This still frees up almost $660.00 a month. We will REJOICE in having these extra funds to support our Choir, Sunday Church School, Messy Church, Garden, Neighborhood and other Outreach programs.
REJOICE with Long Term Savings
Achieving the Challenge Goal will also SAVE
over $260,000.00 in INTEREST COSTS
ALONE over the term of the mortgage.
Assumptions
That we will meet the Challenge.
New Mortgage - Interest rate @ 6 ¼% - 5 year term – 20 year amortization.
Synod support of $1500.00 a month will not continue past 2013.
How can we meet the Challenge?
PRAY: for strength and guidance and for His blessings on our endeavors.
PARTICIPATE AND SUPPORT: in
the special events planned by
groups and individuals to raise
funds. Attend and bring friends
and neighbours.
SUPPORT: the challenge to the best of our abilities with financial gifts.
How Should I Respond to the Challenge?
Prayerfully consider and ask for guidance on how you might participate. It is recognized that:.
Not everyone will be a financial position to support the Challenge financially.
It is more important to maintain your regular gifts than give to the Challenge.
However, if you are considering support with a gift(s) over and above your present regular offerings please let us know by completing a Mortgage Challenge Card.
Knowing your intentions early in the Challenge will help in determining our ability to reach the goal. Gifts are needed by October 31st 2013 and may be made on a regular or onetime basis.
What if I can’t participate as I would like?
Make a financial gift only of you can. There are those who are already giving at the full extent of their means. No one should feel guilty if they cant participate. It is more important to maintain your present giving commitment.
How do I participate with financially?
Complete and follow the instructions on the Mortgage Challenge Card enclosed with the letter you will receive shortly.
Make participation “Second Mile” gifts over and above regular giving.
Enclose gifts in the special “Mortgage Challenge” envelopes which will be located in the pew racks or on the mail table.
When Should I Give ?
The sooner the better since Mortgage Challenge Funds will be applied as soon as received to the outstanding mortgage balance. This means your gifts are effectively earning 6% through reduced interest costs.
Each $100.00 received prior to November 30th 2012 will generate a return of $106.00.
Give, weekly, monthly or onetime but no later than October 31st 2013.
What Happens Next?
A letter explaining the
challenge and how you can
respond with your gifts will be
mailed shortly.
The Challenge runs from November 1st 2012 to October 31st 2013.
And We REJOICE
That GOD continues to Nurture
and Bless our Congregation
That HE has a Mission for Westside and will continue to lead and guide us as we prayerfully consider our response to this Challenge

Hymn # 528 in the Red Hymnal
The Lord Now Sends Us Forth
The Lord now sends us forth with hands to
serve and give,
To make of all the earth a better place to live

The angels are not sent into our world of pain
To do what we were meant to do in Jesus’ name:
that falls to you and me and all who are made free.
Help us, O Lord, we pray, to do your will today.
