History Repeats Itself!
On March 3rd, Feast Day of St. Katharine Drexel, the 1st Mass Reading was from Jeremiah,
chap.7:23-28 in which the Lord told the prophet that the people would not listen to him and to tell the
people that “… this is a nation that does not listen to the voice of the Lord, its God, or take correction!!!
Faithfulness has disappeared; the Word itself is banished from their speech!!!”
This reading was followed by the well-known responsorial psalm that begins with the words “if
today you hear His voice, harden not your hearts.”
This is precisely why we need God’s Mercy which Jesus offered to us in overabundance when He
died on the cross. Pope Francis is giving us plenty of opportunities in the Jubilee Year of Mercy to
receive God’s Mercy and is constantly asking us to be merciful to others. How are we doing so far???
Here is a little help from Padre Pio who gave us the following prayer:
“O Lord, we ask for a boundless confidence and trust in Your divine mercy and the courage to
accept the crosses and sufferings which bring immense goodness to our souls and that of Your
Church.
Help us to love You with a pure and contrite heart and to humble ourselves beneath Your cross as
we climb the mountain of holiness, carrying our cross that leads to heavenly glory.
May we receive You with great faith and love in Holy Communion and allow you to act in us as You
desire for your greater Glory.
O Jesus, most adorable heart and eternal fountain of Divine Love, may our prayer find favor before
the Divine Majesty of Your Heavenly Father. Amen.
Padre Pio counsels us on prayer as follows: “Let us pour out our whole soul to God in prayer. God is
captivated by our prayers and will come to our aid.” “Pray, hope and don’t worry. Worry is useless. God is
merciful and will hear your prayer.”
He also told us that “the weapon for our time is the Rosary!”
Our Heavenly Mother, Mary, has asked us many times in all her apparitions to pray the Rosary daily for
peace. Where is there peace in this world? Are we praying???
Please, join us Wednesdays and Fridays after 9AM Mass to pray the Rosary for Peace and also
consider serving in the Legion of Mary Apostolate as an active member. It is a great way to show
our love for God and neighbor! We need you!

Living Our Mission
Provides $5 Million for Seminarians
In many Dioceses, a man who wants to go into the
seminary must pay for a portion, or in some cases,
all of the cost of this specialized education. Each
man entering the seminary, for an education that
typically lasts six years, should be assured that he
will not have to worry about the cost required to
answer God’s calling. In our Diocese, the full cost
of the seminary is covered by the Diocese and not
by those who discern the priesthood.
Over the course of eight years, it costs our Diocese
$300,000 to educate one seminarian. We have
been blessed to see a significant increase in men
entering the priesthood and the current number of
25 in our Diocese is the highest it has been in
decades.
To ensure that the future education of our
seminarians is fully covered like it is today, the
Living Our Mission campaign will fund a $5 million
endowment within the new Catholic Community
Foundation to support the recruiting and
formation of future priests to serve God’s people in
the Diocese of Richmond.

Mission campaign, please visit
