Target Audience
Interests of my audience
I think that my audience will probably have an interest already in the book. They may also have
an interest in Romance films.
Demographics
My target audience is teenage girls between the ages of 13-21. I
also think they will be mainly American and English due to the
book being popular there.
Certificate
The Fault in Our Stars will have the certificate of a 12A due to certain
parts of the storyline and also the fact that the main story of the cancer may
not be appropriate for younger audiences.
Purpose of the title sequence
I will have the voice over of Augustus reading out the end of a letter and we will be able to see Hazel being pushed by a nurse. I plan to show the characters but not entirely introduce them. I think that I will be showing
more of the story line and what the film is about.
Titles: Who and What
I plan to make my title sequence look very handmade and creative. I want to use painted backdrops of space with different planets dropping down from
pieces of string to symbolise that not everything is perfect and as it seems. I want the titles to either be
edited in so they appear on the screen or to incorporate them into the backdrop by either adding
them to string and dropping them too or painting them on to the planets so that they appear at the
same time.
SoundI think that I want quite a simple little song. I think that I am going
to make the song very singer/songwriter and it is quite minimal and I think that that fits the feeling of the film. I also am going to have the voice over of
Augustus.
Practical Challenges
A challenge will be how, where and when I am going to record the voice of Augustus
for the voice over.
Another challenge will also be to get the actors in to film as most of my filming will
be done outside.
A challenge will also be getting the supplies and creating the backdrop.
Desirable Response from the Audience
I want my opening sequence/ title sequence to make my audience begin thinking about the character Hazel and also what is going to happen throughout the story.
