GL ARCHERY
Congratulations to the Grand Ledge Archery Team and their success at
the Worlds Tournament inMadison, Wisconsin this past
summer!The team shot well enough to earn a
spot as the 25 th best team in the world (with 44 teams competing atthe tournament). They shot a 3202
out of 3600 points possible.
Wonderful Job GL Archery Team!
Parents/Students can now access Athletic Schedules as well as variousschool and district meetings throughSchedule Star on the GLHS website!

Students who wish to drive to school willONLY be able to purchase their parking passes
online. Parking passes cost $50 for the year and can be purchased through the website below. Thewebsite can also be found through the GLPS
webpage, under the Parent/Student Resources tab,then clicking on PaySchools.
Once the parking pass is purchased throughPaySchools, the student driver will need to complete
the Google Form below (or through the GLHShomepage) regarding the following information
about the vehicle(s) he/she drives:
1. Make/Model2. Year and Color
3. License Plate Number4. Name of the Registered Owner
5. Students Drivers License Number

The 2014-15 school calendar isnow available on the Grand LedgePublic Schools website. One thing you will notice is that there issomething new. Approximatelyonce each month there is a 2-hourdelayed start. On those days we willfollow the same schedule as we do when there is a 2-hour weatherdelay. These delayed starts were
added to the school calendar inorder to provide time for teachersto work together analyzing data andusing that data to plan theirinstruction .
Calculators forStudent Use
Students in Algebra 2 and above areexpected to have a graphing
calculator. Students in Algebra 1 orGeometry are expected to have ascientific calculator. Calculators areavailable to rent from the Math Help
Room. Students first need tocomplete the rental form and have it
signed by a parent/guardian, thenstop by room 315 to pick up the
calculator. Scientific calculators areavailable to rent free of
charge. Graphing calculators requirea $20 deposit and a $10 per trimesterrental fee. Rental forms are available
outside the door of room 315.

GLHS Grief and Loss Support Group
Grand Ledge High School and Eles Place will once again be offering a grief andsupport group for Grand Ledge High School students for the 2014-2015 school year.
This program will be offered during the school day, once a week for 8 weeksfor one class period each week, and is designed to help students who haveexperienced the death of someone important to them. In small group sessions,students will have the opportunity to talk about their feelings and experiences withothers who understand, express their feelings through a variety of activities, andlearn positive coping skills. Groups will be led by a trained Eles Place staffmember, Tammy Shiflett, as well as John Mills, School Social Worker at GrandLedge High School.
Eles Place is a non-profit communityagency that has been offering grief supportgroups to children and their families for over20 years. We at Grand Ledge High Schoolare pleased to work together with Eles Placeto offer this very special opportunity to yourstudent. We know that children and teens
can be deeply affected by the death ofsomeone close to them, and we have seenchildrens behavior, self-esteem, and school performance suffer as a result of theirgrief.
Interested students should get a parent permission form From Mr. Mills fortheir parents to fill out and return to the Student Services Department . Only thefirst 12 students to return this permission form will be able to join Eles Group.Please return this form as soon as possible. USA Test PREP:Online preparation for the ACT Test
Last year GLHS was awarded a $1500 grant from DFCU Financial for a year subscription to anonline student test preparation site for the ACT test.
The USA TestPrep website allows each student to login to a unique student account, and practiceeach of the 4 components of the ACT test (English, Reading, Math & Science). The website trackseach student's progress and gives practice problems that correspond to his/her needs. Teachersare also able to work with students and view their progress.
