ENVIRONMENTAL AND BUILDING ACOUSTICS, VIBRATION AND NOISE MANAGEMENT
Acoustics and noise/vibration control are key design factors for buildings as features that determine
the quality and liveability of their interior spaces.
Noise and Vibration are key environmental factors in the feasibility of projects ranging from transport
to land development, as well as in building design. A correct noise and vibration assessment and
prediction is paramount in in adapting a project to its needed environmental requirements and a
growing sensitivity in our society.
TMA is an expert consultant with a remarkable international background and the expertise of more
than twenty years of practice in envornmental and building acoustics, acoustic design and noise and
vibration management.
Landscape and urban planning, industrial design, and room acoustics are our areas of expertise.
Among other areas, we are leading consultants in noise and vibration for Airport and High Speed
Railway Planning in Spain, including analysis, prediction, assessment, abatement and control.
THE COMPANY
Tasvalor was founded in 1982 by a group of Architecture, Urban and Environmental Planning
professionals. In 1990 all of the company’s environmental services were concentrated in a separate
division under the name Tasvalor Medio Ambiente (TMA).
With the arrival of new associates, in 2002 TMA became an independent corporation. In 2008 TMA,
along with four other experienced partners, TMA created G5 Expertos Ambientales, a holding of
environmental experts with a broad corporate perspective and remarkable international experience.
TMA contributes to G5 as noise, vibration and transportation expert.
CORE VALUES
TMA tries to offer a complex and interdisciplinary vision on all issues related to design, maintaining a
constant reference towards the sensibility and demands of the professional practice in building,
planning and infrastructure.
This holistic approach reaches TMA’s broad catalog of consultancy services, from research to all forms
of assistance, including project design and management.
APPROACH
We are experts in noise and vibration but architects and engineers by training. We work with our
clients, not just for them. Though our job is often labelled as assessment, we like to see it as a
proactive contribution or partnership. We understand the complexity of the design process: legal
requirements, stages, stakeholders, deadlines... we are used to working inside this environment and
try to contribute to making the process simpler for all parties involved.
QUALITY
TMA relies to its Integrated Management System as a guarantee the optimum quality of the services
provided. TMA has implemented a quality system according to the UNE-EN ISO/IEC 17025: 2005 for
testing and calibration laboratories.
Our Acoustics and Vibration laboratory (TMA Lab) is approved and registered as as a Testing
Laboratory for Building Quality in the General Register of the Technical Building Code (CTE) of
Ministerio de Fomento with registration number MAD-L-071.
TMA is accredited as an environmental consultant specialist throughout the Spanish territory,
including those regions with specific record.
TMA holds a Professional Liability Insurance policy with Partner Re, as an additional guarantee of our
work.
SOCIAL RESPONSABILITY
TMA works with the Fundación Ensayo Dos Mil in sponsoring school and university Rugby
TMA annually carries out a number of pro bono work, usually related to improving living conditions in
public schools.
We were certified by AENOR as compliant with the UNE 216301:2007 standard on energy efficiency.

PARTNERSHIPS
TMA is a member of the Spanish Association of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)
TMA is a member of the Spanish Society of Acoustics, Sociedad Española de Acústica (SEA).
TMA has participated in the Working Groups of BREEAM Spain together with the Universidad
Politécnica de Madrid.
Sponsor TMA is founder and partner of the Asociación Ecómetro.
TMA is a member of SANNAS, business association for the three P’s balance (People, Planet,
Profit).
AREAS OF EXPERTISE: BUILDING ACOUSTICS
Our professional activity covers the fields of environmental and noise applied acoustics. Within the
first we are experts in the management and control of urban noise, noise and vibration infrastructure
(transport and industry). In the second group we include building and room acoustics.
A comprehensive and integrated technical assistance aimed at both building design teams as
developers / construction companies; in all matters relating to:
Acoustic design, reverberation control, sound absorption and intelligibility. Variable
acoustics. Electro-acoustics.
Design procedures and requirements in the acoustic and vibratory field derived from the
european Union directives 2010/31/UE and 85/384/CEE, and of the Spanish Technical
Building Code (CTE DB-HR) as well as other regional and local regulations: airborne sound
insulation, impact noise, vibrations
Comprehensive audit work and noise and vibration certification of buildings. verification of
acoustic parameters: acoustic airborne sound insulation, noise index of façades, impact
noise, noise and vibration facilities, reverb, sound absorption.
Training: courses at various professional levels.

ENVIRONMENTAL ACOUSTICS
The progressive implementation of new technical regulations and procedures aimed at the protection
of the sound environment, has created a comprehensive framework of legal reference for both urban
professionals and administrations with urban and environmental responsibilities.
There is an increasing number of european administrations with specific legislation regarding noise
pollution, as well as a number of legal standards at national and European level as the 37/2003 Noise
Law of the Spanish Ministry of Environment, emanating from the Directive 2002/49/EC relating to the
assessment and management of environmental noise (the Environmental Noise Directive – END), all
of which demand the development and application of methods for the study of the noise impact on
land use and urban planning. The recent Directive 2015/996/EC, sets new common methods for
assessing environmental noise.
Since 1990 TMA has been offering an intense consultancy activity in acoustics. Today we are one of
the few companies able to provide a comprehensive assistance in Environmental Acoustics and
problems associated with territorial planning in Spain and abroad.
Our activity in the field of environmental acoustics is articulated as a comprehensive technical
assistance aimed at teams of urban planners, industrial engineering or infrastructure designers and
developers, public administration, law firms etc.
TRANSPORT ACOUSTICS
TMA provides a comprehensive technical assistance in transport acoustics both to teams responsible
for the engineering design (railways, roads and airports) as to those responsable of traffic
management.
TMA is the ideal partner that will help you meet any requirement at national or international level,
regarding environmental impact and particularly noise and vibration:
