Dear people of God:
This month we celebrate our Homecoming Sunday on September 17th!. It’s the service when we re-gather as one parish community after our travels and activities have pulled us away for the summer. Why do we do this? Because it’s an important and powerful reminder that our parish community is our home. It’s the place where we come every week to pray with those around us who love us as fellow followers of Jesus on the journey, the place where we are strengthened to live out our faith. It’s the place where we bring our joys, cares, concerns, fears, and questions to the altar so that God might meet us here and speak to us about them in Word and Sacrament. Our new program year at St. Andrew’s will be filled with rich opportunities to be strengthened in our faith and presence to the world around us. Our recital series will begin the year, and will present to us a broad and beautiful selection of musical offerings. Our choir returns in a full schedule of sacred music for our liturgies and other services to enhance our worship life. Our lecture series will present another program that connects with our historic heritage on Staten Island. Our full schedule of children’s chapel resumes with new opportunities for youth to lead worship. And our adult formation series on Sunday mornings is filled with classes to help us strengthen our Christian life.
Our leadership and our staff who serve this parish throughout the year have been planning during the summer for us to return here, so that our parish might offer abundant opportunities for us to be formed and strengthened as followers of Jesus. For them and for that, we are grateful. So, welcome home! If you’ve been away for the summer, we have missed you and are glad to see you return. Give your friends and neighbors a nudge and remind them it’s time to come back too. I hope you’ll join us throughout the year, every time you are able, to walk with one another and to experience the movement of the Holy Spirit in this place. May we have a holy and blessed year ahead! .
Faithfully,
Fr. Aaron

Let us remember to pray for each other and for
those who have asked for our prayers:
We pray for all who yearn for health, for people with disabilities, for those in mental anguish or spiritual turmoil, for the incurably ill, for all who live with cancer and HIV/AIDS, we remember especially; Nancy Quigley, Alicia Ruby, Arthur Maul, Bob DiMilia, Robert Campbell, Shon A. Isaacs, Sr., Shon A. Isaacs, Jr, Marian Oliveri, Charlie Quigley, Doreen Seaman, Kevin Russo, Jr., Matthew Chaveri, Mavis Peterson-Paul. We pray for all who remember and care for them.
We commend to your mercy all who have recently died, especially Peggie Kiernan and Nancy Maita. We pray that they may share with all your saints in your eternal kingdom.
We pray for peace in the world and for an end to crimes of bias, hate, and terrorism, for people of Africa, Palestine, Haiti, Israel, Lebanon, Libya, Afghanistan, Darfur, Egypt, Syria and Iraq.
We pray for our divided and restless world, that those who hold power over others, especially Donald J. Trump, our President, Andrew Cuomo, our Governor, William deBlasio, our Mayor, and James Oddo, our Borough President, may be troubled and transformed by the demands of justice.
We pray for the mission and ministry of the Episcopal Church on Staten Island, We especially remember our Clergy, Vestry and our Staff, may we boldly proclaim the Gospel message in all that we do and say.
We pray for those who, day and night, serve and watch over our country, especially those men and women serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. May God watch over them and guide them and be with their families.

ECW I hope you all had a pleasant, restful, and I know, a hot summer! Now is the time to think fall and to get ready for our Annual Rummage Sale! The sale will be held September 8th (9 AM-4 PM) and 9th (9 ÅM-3PM). Please spread the word to family and friends that we will be collecting rummage at Hemsley Hall beginning on Tuesday, August 29th. We are in need of good and used articles of clothing, household items and knick knacks. Please note NO BOOKS or large electronics. Please bring all donations to Hemsley Hall and put them on the stage. Please be sure not to block access to the stairs on the right of the stage, as this is a fire code violation. Let's have another successful sale! Our first ECW meeting will be held on Thursday, October 5th at noon in the church. As usual, it will begin with Holy Eucharist at 12:00 PM and will be immediately followed by lunch in Burch Hall. Your Executive Board will supply the refreshments. Hope to see you all there!

PUBLISHING SCHEDULE OF
THE CHRONICLES
The Chronicles will be mailed on the last Friday of each month. All Parish Groups & Organizations are requested to have their articles submitted to the Parish Office by the 15th of each month. It is preferred that groups submit their articles via email, but handwritten reports are acceptable.
HOMECOMING SUNDAY
& PARISH BARBECUE
Homecoming Sunday will be celebrated on Sunday, September 17th and everyone is invited to attend our one liturgy at 10:00 AM! Please note that the 8:00 AM Rite I Liturgy and the 7:00 PM Rite II Liturgy will not be held that day. Liturgy will be followed by a Parish Barbecue and Picnic. This event is rain or shine! We are asking everyone to bring a side dish, salad or dessert to share. Please make enough to feed 6 to 8 people. St. Andrew’s will provide the main dish and the beverages. Please look for the sign-up sheet at the Usher Stand in church. Homecoming and the gathering afterwards is always such a great time for the parish! Please feel free to bring a friend. All are welcome! We hope to see everyone there!
THE FEAST OF ST. FRANCIS
& BLESSING OF THE ANIMALS
Please join us (and spread the word!) for our annual celebration of The Feast of Saint Francis this year! We will bless your beloved animals at the 10:00 am service on Sunday, October 1st, and celebrate the feast day at the 8:00 am and 7:00 pm services, as well (without animals present).
Francis' famous prayer calls us to be instruments of God's peace in the world. To so many of us, our animals are instruments of peace in our lives. Let us rejoice and be glad for the gifts in our lives, and thank God for the privilege of being God's vessels on this earth!
PARKING LOT FUNDRAISER:
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
On Labor Day weekend, September 2-4, Historic
Richmond Town will be holding their annual County
Fair. For many years, we have parked cars in our lots
as a fundraiser. Last year this was a very successful
fundraiser for the parish! We were only able to
make it such a success because parishioners signed
up for a shift to help direct cars into our lots.
We desperately need your help to make the
fundraiser a success. Please consider donating a
portion of your time over the holiday weekend. Even
if you can only sign up for one shift, it would be a
tremendous help. A sign-up sheet will be available
at church.
Thank you in advance for your assistance!
FRIGHT NIGHT 2017
St. Andrew’s will be holding a 2-weekend “Fright
Night Event” on Saturday, October 14th, Friday,
October 20th and Saturday, October 21st.
This year’s theme will be Serial Killers!! This
annual Halloween attraction always draws large
crowds and is a major fundraiser for the parish.
For this fundraising event, we need to
participation of the entire parish. You do not
have to be an actor. There are plenty of
opportunities to assist with various tasks such as
ticket sales, refreshments, security, etc. Just call
our Coordinators and tell them you are interested
in helping out. Anyone who is interested in
participating in the spooky fun should contact the
Fright Night Coordinators, Donna Barr and
Stasia Krebushevski.
Additionally, we are in need of parishioners to
donate cupcakes, cookies, brownies and any
baked good and for the refreshment table. If you
would like to bake for this parish event, please
contact the Parish Office.
For more information, please contact Donna and
David Barr (718.979.3899) or Stasia and Stanley
Krebushevski (718-667-4291). You can also call
Karen Kelly at the Parish Office (718.351.0900).
EUCHARISTIC MINISTRY
If you know of someone in the parish that is homebound or in the hospital, please be sure to notify Fr. Aaron or the Parish Office (718.351.0900) so that arrangements can be made for a visit and communion brought.
