Domaine des Comtes Lafon have the deepest and coldest cellars in Burgundy which nurture some of the greatest dry white wines made in the Cotes de Beaune today. Dominique Lafon is the leading winegrower in Meursault, producing wines of astonishing depth, complexity, and balance. At the southern end of the village of Meursault, is the vineyard many consider the best: Perrieres, a premier cru which in the right winemaker hands, make elegant luscious long lived wines in many cases worthy of Grand Cru status. Domaine Comte des Lafon owns less than 2 acres of the precious Perrieres and we are pleased to present Dominique’s 8 vintages to taste: 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, and rare 1997 with commentary from acclaimed Sommeliers Larry Stone and Rajat Parr.

The Chappellet family’s romance with Napa Valley and Pritchard Hill started more than five decades ago when Donn and Molly Chappellet first glimpsed at its magnificent vista of forests and wildflower-filled meadows. Inspired by the notion that Bacchus loves the hills, the Chappellets followed the advice of renowned winemaker André Tchelistcheff and settled on Pritchard Hill’s rocky slopes, becoming the first Napa Valley winery to plant vineyards exclusively on high-elevation hillsides. From these Pritchard Hill vineyards, the Chappellets have been crafting extraordinary, age-worthy wines since 1967.
Join us for a rare tasting of 50 years of Chappellet Cabernet Sauvignon shipped directly from the Chappellet cellars where these wines have never moved. Cyril Chappellet leads the panel with wines including 2014, 2012, 2007, 2001 and 1999 Pritchard Hill Cabernet Sauvignon and 1987, 1975 Cabernet Sauvignon, and perhaps the greatest Cabernet Sauvignon ever made in Napa Valley, the extremely rare 1969 Chappellet Cabernet Sauvignon. Master Sommelier, Jay James leads the discussion.

The Georis Adobe | Carmel Valley | Saturday, March 18, 2017, 9:30 am - 2 pm
Walter Georis was born of a Belgian father and a German mother who immigrated to the US from Belgium in 1956 when Walter was eleven years old. After having spent his teen years in Southern California, Walter decided to move north to Carmel where he pursued a career in fine arts. Remembering his childhood and the pleasures of country life on the family farms in Europe, Walter decided to combine his love of fine wines with the challenges and rewards of growing grapes and producing first class wines. In 1981, after consulting with French experts on soil and wine making, he bought a ranch in Carmel Valley and soon planted the grapes that would produce the first crop of Georis wines.
Taste rarities from Walter’s Cellars and his winemaker Damien Georis who will also pour his Madeleine wines. The Old Georis Adobe in Carmel Valley Village is the perfect place to hold this intimate event prepared by Relais & Châteaux Chef Joshua Drage of The Ranch at Rock Creek and Casanova Executive Chef Bryan Smith.

Founded in 1731 in Beaune by Michael Bouchard, Bouchard Père & Fils is one of the oldest wines estates in Burgundy perpetuating tradition for nearly 3 centuries and 9 generations. The Domaine’s ancient walls contain wonderful secrets as they house the greatest collection of old burgundy with historic wines dating back to the mid-1800s.
“Le Corton” is one of these historic wines and vineyards, which gave the name to the Corton appellation. The first traces of vineyards at Aloxe-Corton date back to the 2nd century B.C. and later Le Corton was to be the favorite wine of Charlemagne. In the 19th century, writer Guy de Maupassant contributed to its reputation by calling it the “roi des bons vivants” in his famous novel “Bel-Ami.” Corton is the only red Grand Cru in the Côte de Beaune and the only Grand Cru in the Côte d’Or to be divided into “sous-climats.” Bouchard Père & Fils owns one of the best “climats” in Le Corton and since 1976, winemaker Philippe Prost has been guiding the wines of Bouchard Père & Fils. He has opened their historic cellars and shipped directly from the Domaine for us to taste treasures that include Le Corton 2009, 2000, 1985, 1978, 1976, 1969, 1961 and 1959.

Originally dating from the 12th century, Château Margaux roots took firm hold in the 16th century with the arrival of the Lestonnac Family. By the beginning of the 18th century, the estate comprised 650 acres with a third devoted to vineyards. Château Margaux on the left bank in Bordeaux is one of the rare First Growths, which was the first to be sold at auction by Christies and declared a favorite of Thomas Jefferson. The Mentzelopoulos family bought Château Margaux in 1976 and have lovingly restored the vineyards, chais and maison while producing some of the most exceptional wines made in Bordeaux today.
In this tasting, led by Deputy Managing Director Aurelien Valance and direct from Château Margaux’s cellars, we will explore all the facets of the estate including 2009 Pavillon Rouge, the ultra-rare 2012 Pavillon Blanc, and Chateau Margaux 2009, 2005, 2000, 1999, 1996 and the legendary 1990. Cuvée Louise, an extremely pure champagne, was created in 1979. Pommery’s prestige Cuvée is faithful to the high standards of the woman who inspired it, made from the best plots of vines that are jealously kept for this wine alone. In the tradition of Pommery Nature 1874, Louise is a prestige Cuvée with extremely low sugar content. Behind this apparent simplicity, there are unique processes at play, used at every stage of winemaking, so that Cuvée Louise can take the time to embody the quintessence of Pommery style.
Join Champagne Pommery Chef de Cave Thierry Gasco on a journey through the Prestige Cuvee of Champagne Pommery “Cuvée Louise” featuring vintages 2004, 2004 “Nature”, 2002, 1999, 1998, 1995, 1995 en Magnum, and the ultra-rare 1990 in Jeroboam. The panel is led by Sommelier Raj Parr.
