Tesco’s Casing Drive System™ (CDS™) Wins Project in KSA
Tesco True Results
Remote Saudi Arabia project location
Customer Focus: Baker Hughes has a project in remote, Saudi Arabia, approximately 16 hours south of Tesco’s main facility within KSA. Tesco recognized that there was an opportunity to offer Baker Hughes a solution within these remote conditions to increase safety, service quality and reduce non-productive time (NPT) by introducing the CDS technology to their operation, instead of the conventional power tong method currently provided by 3rd party.
True Result: On October 2014, Tesco successfully completed the job with a 9-5/8” CDS to highlight and prove Tesco’s technology. The client was highly impressed with the increased overall safety and casing running performance. Specifically highlighting how these wells have been running conventionally with an average of 14 hours or 8.5 joints per hour, while Tesco’s CDS completed the job within 10 hours or 12 joints per hour.
Proven Performance: Due to the positive outcome of the first job, Tesco secured the first ever CDS contract in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, covering 4 drilling rigs, with top to bottom sections including: 7”, 9 5/8”, 13 3/8” and 18 5/8”. Tesco continues to be recognized for the ability to increase overall casing running performance while utilizing the CDS and received an excellent performance notation regarding the 18 5/8” Casing Jobs. Wells running with a conventional tong average 5 joints per hour; while the CDS runs an average of 13 joints per hour.
