A.
Course Description
This course is an elective course for 1st year student. The aim of this course is to raise students’ interest and understanding
of traveling and English related to travel business. Students will boost their confidence in listening and speaking with rich
practice using typical travel situations.
B.
General Approach
This course will consist of lectures and practices to develop students’ understanding of traveling overseas and English
related to travel business including airlines, travel agency, hotel accommodations. In each class, a topic will be given to
students who are guided into opinions in English. Students do not need to understand every word to complete the task oflistening and only key information is important.
C. Relationship with Other Courses
This course is not relate to any other courses.
Goals/Objective of Course:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Understand vocabulary associated with tourism
2. Understand tour brochures produced by tour operators
3. Understand tour itinerary and create own tour schedule
4. Take care to possible trouble shoot during the travel
Study Requirements:
There are no requirements for this course.

1. The text of “English for Tourism101” must be purchased and must be brought to class each week.
2.
Assignments need to be submitted by due date.3. Quizzes will not be made up.
B. Reflection and Feedback:
Students will be asked to reflect on the content of classes. They will be given time to write on a monthly basis.
Students are requested to use email for weekly out-of-class communication between students and the instructor.
Quizzes will be used as a major gauge for how well the students are following the text and comprehending the
vocabulary.
