Principal’sMessageDearLearningCenterFamilies,Irecentlyconductedsomeverycursoryresearchtobetterunderstandwhypeoplewillinglyvolunteeredtheirtimeandenergytoschools,churches,hospitals,communitycenters,missionsandotherserviceorientedorganizations.TheresultsIfoundwerenotsurprising,butcertainlymorewide-rangingthanIhadoriginallythought.Peoplereportedtheyvolunteeredforsuchreasonsas:• Bringingaboutsocialchange• Friendship&support• Recognition&feedback• Connectingwithcommunity• Givingsomethingback• Usingskillsinaproductiveway• Getoutofthehouse• Gainleadershipskills• Makeadifference• Strengthenyourresume• Bepartofateam• Becauseofbeingasked• Tofeelgood,andformanyotherreasons…

Furthermore,underlyingsuchpersonalmotivesstatedabovewasthatvolunteeringpossessedmeaningfulpurposeaimedtoimprovethegreatergoodofhumanity,andthegeneralwellbeingofoursociety.WheneverIworkwithourvolunteerparents,orseethemassistingandteachingourstudents,Isodeeplyappreciatethatbeneaththesuperficialappearanceof“helpingout”aretrulypersonal,altruisticreasonsfordoingso.PleaseknowthatallofusonstaffhereattheLearningCenterrecognizeandaregratefulfortheimpactyou,theparents,haveonourstudents.Thankyousomuch!InService,
