Adult Immunizations
Childhood ImmunizationsBirth to age 2
22 vaccinations (Dtap, Hib, Pneumo, HepB, HepA, IPV, MMR, Varicella)
3 oral doses (Rotavirus)
Kindergarten4 vaccinations (Dtap, IPV, MMR, Varicella)

Tetanus, Diptheria and Pertussis (Tdap) Tetanus (Td)
Given as a childhood series, then a booster is required every 10 years
May give booster early if there is a serious injury or risk of infection
Should I get Tdap or Td?Pregnant women are revaccinated with Tdap
during pregnancy to prevent transmission of pertussis (whooping cough) to infants
Grandparents, daycare workers, etc. should consider a booster with Tdap if caring for infants
A small percentage of people have a serious reaction to pertussis vaccine and require Td
Zostavax (Shingles)One dose suggested after age 60About 50% effective in preventing an episode
of shingles (herpes zoster) infectionShingles is caused by a reactivation of the
chicken pox virus that is dormant in your body
Can cause painful, irritating rash almost anywhere on the body.
Sometimes the rash causes long-term, severe pain
Zostavax (Shingles)Helpful hint: check with your
insurance/Medicare before getting the vaccination, as there sometimes are payment or reimbursement issues
Pneumococcal (Pneumonia)Primary series given in childhoodMay be repeated in early adulthood with
certain risk factors such as lung disease, diabetes, immune disorders
A one-time vaccination, is suggested after age 65
