WAYS TO GIVE
INVESTIN VANDERBILT STUDENT-ATHLETES
When you give to the NCC Excellence Fund for Men’s Basketball, you provide funds for programs, technology and other opportunities for our student-athletes that fall outside of their operating budget. Last year, Excellence Fund members funded new Delos training technology. This machine evaluates any instabilities in the foot, ankle, knee or spine to help training and strength and conditioning staff identify and prevent potential injuries. Since the team started using this technology, they have been able to adjust training methods so student-athletes can safely spend more time on the court. Because of generous supporters, the program also had the opportunity to travel to the U.S. Virgin Islands. This educational team trip helped prepare them for the upcoming season, and provided a once-in-a-lifetime cultural experience for these deserving student-athletes. While on the islands, they played four games versus international competition, and explored the beaches and historic landmarks.
SUCCESSIS POSSIBLE BECAUSE OF YOU
Vanderbilt Men’s Basketball saw great success last year in the classroom and on the court. They finished the regular season strong with wins against South Carolina and Florida, and earned a trip to the NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row. Luke Kornet earned SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year honors and was named to the All-SEC First Team and All-Defensive Team, and Academic All-American Second Team. He graduated from Vanderbilt in May and signed a two-way contract with the Knicks. Three team members—Nolan Cressler, Luke Kornet and Jeff Roberson—were recognized for their academic achievements by being named to the 2016–17 Winter SEC Academic Honor Roll.
