School will resume in the fall on Thursday, September 1, 2016.
Have a wonderful summer!
The Baade Blurb
Where has the year gone? I can’t believe the school year is almost over. The school has been filled with excitement the
last month or so. I’d like to thank so many people who have helped in our school community.
First of all, thanks to Ms. Hart and Mrs. Spencer for decorating and organizing the School dance. To Zach and Garson for
being wonderful DJs and to Mr. Osatiuk for supplying the music. Thank you to the many teachers who supervised the
dance, and to Ms. Hart and Mackenzie for organizing the games and prizes.
Thank you to Mr. Kevin Garinger, Director of Horizon School Division and Trustee Leslie Lewis for initiating the gym
renovation. The contractors moved in May 2, and the gym has been changing daily. The plan is to have it ready for
September 1, so that all of the students can enjoy the beginning of their school year in the new gym!
Thank you, also, to Ryan Kelly for encouraging the Town of Imperial to remove trees from the track, to Cindy Wolff for
trimming and spraying out the shot put base, to Kelvin Klenk for hauling more sand into the long jump pit, to Mr. Ingram
for rototilling the pit, and to Mrs. Joann Mooney for requesting and receiving a grant for the re-development of the
track.
Thank you to the staff for their hard work during this busy season. Grad takes a lot of planning and everyone
contributed their time and talents. Thank you to the Catholic Church ladies, Tracy Wilcox, the students, and the parents
for making grad run so smoothly. Congratulations to the graduates of 2016: Emma Anderson, Raelyn Goodsman, Sarah
Joa, Kennedy Lewis, Catelyn Poitras, Harper Rae, Patrick Scott, and Cooper Vance.
Thank you to a few new staff members who joined us recently, Miss Sydney Thomas and Mr. Jarvis Engele. We have
enjoyed having you in our building. We would like to say farewell to Ms. Cantelon and thank her for years of dedicated
service to our students-enjoy Winston High! In addition, we say farewell and best wishes to Miss Chelsea Nagy who
finished a temporary contract in our school. Congratulations to Ms. Danyluk and Kyle Kitchen on the birth of their
daughter Vienna, and best wishes to Mr. Doom as he pursues his career. Also, thank you Carmen Rosner for your hard
work in keeping our school clean while Mr. Abrey was on leave.
Finally, thank you to the SCC’s hard work this year. Special thanks to Mrs. Joanne Mooney for her dedication and years
of service on the SCC. She has planned and initiated many activities, applied for grants, created charts, acted as
chairperson, and sincerely cared about all of our students. For this, we thank you, Joanne! You will be missed on the
SCC.
As I said in our first newsletter, “It takes a village to raise a child.” I have seen wonderful growth in our students this
year academically, socially, physically and mentally. As a community we all deserve to celebrate as we see eight
students graduate and ten Kindergarten students enter our school in the fall. Let’s embrace this success and enjoy our
school community pride! Have a great summer!

Grade K, 1 & 2 Report
On Tuesday, June 14 the kindergarten grade, one and two classes, along with Ms. Hart, Miss Nagy and Mrs. Kelly will be
travelling to Regina for their yearend field trip. The students will visit the Amazing Adventure Gymnastics Club where
they will receive one hour of instruction, followed by free play on the club’s play structure. The classes plan to have a
picnic and some outdoor play at Candy Cane park before returning home. Thank you to all the parent drivers for
volunteering to chaperone.
~Mrs. Rhonda Kelly~
Grade 3 & 4 Report
Guess what? The Grade 3/4 students are all authors! Sigmund Brouwer is going to read our short stories, and he will
give us advice! He is a famous, awesome author! He has written the hilarious Justine McKeen series. A few other books
by Sigmund Brower include: Timberwolf series, Chief Honour, Cobra Strike, and Winterhawk Star, just to name a few.
On Friday, June 24, we are going to the Science Centre and the IMAX for our year end field trip. We will be exploring the
Science Centre and watching an IMAX movie. It will be so awesome and fun!
Speaking of fun things, because it is the end of the year, we thought we would list the best things that have happened at
Imperial School this year:
J.J.—There are lots of fundraisers that usually involve buying treats!
Brandon—We get to play games in the gym.
Shayla—The Spring Fling Dance was fun because I got to dance and dancing is my favourite thing!
Cohen—Survivor was the best thing because we got to play outside and miss some of a class.
Rylan—We are getting a NEW gym!!!!!!!!!!
Bailey—Science Olympics because we get to do lots of fun activities.
Warren—Eating cake when we wished Cooper good luck.
Jazmyn—Going to Gym Blast in the gym. We got pulled around on mats to play a chariots game.
Sianna—I liked the spirit days where we got to dress up.
Seth—Going on a field trips to places we don’t often go to on a school day.
Jody—Doing Genius Hour and making projects.
Lukis—During Gym Blast, we sat on the inner tubes to deflate them.
Russel—We got to play sling shot during Gym Blast. We got to use inner tubes.
Siara—We get reading prizes for reading the whole month.
Preston—At the Penny Ante Carnival, we got to go in the bouncy houses.
Imperial School is always awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Grade 5 & 6 Report
The 5-6 class, under the supervision of Mrs. Busche and Mrs. Baade, is planning an overnight “Up, Up and Away” camp-
in at the Regina Science Centre and an Amazing Adventures field trip. They will leave Thursday, June 23 after school and
return Friday, June 24.

Grade 7 & 8 Report
It’s hard to believe that June is already here! The Grade 7/8 class has been very busy over the last few weeks and it looks
like we will continue to be busy until the end of the year. Our track and field athletes had a successful season and we
had some athletes do very well at pre-districts and districts! Recently we have been planning our field trip which will
take place on June 14/15 at Pike Lake with Mrs. Baade and me. We will be camping overnight and some of the activities
planned so far include; a nature hike, pond study, swimming, golf/mini-golf, and beach volleyball as well as the classic
campfire gatherings. We are hoping to have good weather! Thank you to the parents who have offered to chaperone or
lend their vehicles; it is much appreciated! I look forward to finishing the year strong and to having a great month!
~Mr. Jarvis Engele~
Grade 9 & 10 Report
The Grade 9/10’s ventured to Saskatoon on June 2, 2016, for their year-end field trip. The day started off with a
volunteer experience at the Saskatoon Food Bank and Clothing Depot. The students helped sort food for food baskets,
sort clothing, and sort hygiene items. The next part of the trip included a presentation by Str8 up. Str8 up is a program
for individuals who have chosen to leave the gang life/lifestyle and improve their physical and mental well-being. It was
a great opportunity for the students to see how difficult it can be to transition from one lifestyle to the next. The final
part of the trip consisted of a visit to BreakOut Sask. Students were split into two groups and they had to complete a
series of puzzles and/or riddles to solve the challenge they were faced with. Overall, it was a wonderful day filled with
lots of learning experiences outside of the classroom. A huge thank you to Carmen Batke for chaperoning and also a
huge thank you to the students for their tremendous behaviour and attitude throughout the day!

Grade 11 & 12 Report
The Grade 11/12’s went to Pike Lake on May 30-31. When we first arrived we set up all of our tents and the guys made
lunch because the girls stopped at Tim Hortons on the way through Saskatoon, some “campers”. Our first event was a
lake study; we took water samples and caught all sorts of “critters.” We then went back to the camp site and got a
volleyball to play beach volleyball, the guys waxed the girls!! After playing a game of catch, it was supper time and the
girls settled for regular bush pies. But for the guys that was not good enough, they made steak, corn on the cob,
sausages, ichiban noodles and bush pies. After dark, came around a game of home free started to finish off the night.
The next day after everyone crawled out of bed, the guys had an amazing breakfast with bacon, eggs, hash browns and
toast. Again the girls settled for bush pies. Next thing we know we are on a nature walk through the three ecosystems of
Pike Lake. After a quick lunch we went mini golfing to wrap up our last event on our field trip for the year.
~Mr. Patrick Scott~
EYES
On June 2, students from K-8 had an EYES (Educating Youth in Engineering and Science) workshop. Two students from
the University of Regina conducted the workshop. The K-1’s made Flubber, the 2’s and 3-4’s did Shake Plate (building
strong structures out of spaghetti and mini marshmallows), and the 5-6’s and 7-8’s built a Rube Goldberg device. The
students had a “great”, “awesome”, “best science class ever” time!
~Mrs. Diane Busche~
Central Band
Central Band went on a music tour to Winnipeg on the May long weekend. It was a blast. Students were involved in variety of team building activities, performing, swimming, and attending an awesome show at Celebrations Dinner Theatre. We had a chance to perform at two schools, a park in downtown Winnipeg, and a senior home. Students did a great job performing, and the audience was very pleased with their music. We are inviting more students to join the Band and go with us to Edmonton in the spring of 2017.
~Mr. Vlad Osatiuk~
Track Report
This year 26 students from grade 6 to 12 joined the track and field team coached by Miss Nagy, Miss Thomas, and Mr.
Engele. The students began practicing at the beginning of May for the pre-district meet in Watrous on May 16. Twelve
athletes from this meet moved on to the district meet in Humboldt on May 25. All students put in a great effort and did
an awesome job this season!
~Miss Chelsea Nagy~
SRC Report
What a wonderful year it has been for Imperial School. Every month of school goes by quickly, and these last two
months were action packed to say the least. Learning is fun and all, but the most memorable things that happened these
last two months were the last Survivor event of the year (May 13), a Dress up day (where we dressed up as things
ending in “er”) and the blue team celebration lunch for winning this year’s Survivor, where pizza and ice cream where
eaten as a prize. Losing yourself in school work at this time of year is something not hard to do, but the SRC has got your
back and has begun planning a final activity for June 22 in periods 5-6.
For next year, the lineup of SRC members will be changing, sadly, so I’d like to give an early introduction to those who
will be on the SRC next year. Until now you’ve heard my voice every morning telling you the daily news, but next year
this will be done by my cousin, Lexi Lewis. Canteen stocker will be a position filled by Wynter Batke, and Tyson Taylor
will be the Secretary. King Garson will be the ruler of the school, the SRC president for next year. Yelling is no issue for
Emmett Scheidt, so he will be the one filling the position of social director, and he is also thus dubbed “tamer of
rambunctious children”. Of course, while next year’s SRC is very capable, we can only hope that they can be half as
awesome as this year’s SRC.
Until next time Imperial School.
~Miss Kennedy Lewis~
Congratulations to our 2016 Graduates!
Best of luck as you move forward.
