Operational Manual• On-going

• Structure and basic content drafted;• Difficulties in identifying a national expert in support to the
international one. Comparative advantages• Identified: child protection and HIV/AIDS – more on the designated

Advocacy for Romanian ODA
• Activities completed:– Outreached to key stakeholders in:
• Parliament (2 Foreign Affairs Commissions), Line Ministries, Presidency + Prime Minister’s Office
• Private sector + Civil Society (intellectual elite + youth)• Media (including through contributions to publications).
•Further steps…• Round table to be organized to build more capacity on the
targeted stakeholders.• Romanian Development Camp II - an active forum for debates in
the field of development cooperation, a chance to strengthen the network of experts in this area and to identify new ways of cooperation in regions of common interest.

• Goal: develop curricula on MA level, launch it on 2010 - 2011
• Working group: UBB Cluj, AIC Iasi, UV Timisoara. Possible partner: ASE Bucuresti.
• Supporting activities undergone: 4 working meetings, 1 seminar, 1 study visit to Leeds and Bradford
• Profile: 4 core courses + different optional

Next steps:
1. Contracts to be signed btw UNDP and Universities;
2. Prepare file for accreditation (October - January)
Academic Conference
• Goal: to jumpstart the research backbone associated with the field of international development, in Romania
• Disablers: new field, no research support (i.e. field experience, availability of publications, interest?)
Rethinking:• Regional conference: State of research in
development studies: Perspectives of emerging donors. Policy, comparative studies, market reaction.
• Romanian, Regional (emerging donors) and European (traditional donors) academic representatives.
When? January 2010.
• Second edition• Location: Carmen Hotel, Venus• The camp: space for training, information
and best practices exchange; forum of dialogue and networking, ensuring the sustainable interaction between national stakeholders, as well as between the national and European counterparts.
