Supporting Training Centre for Learning Disabled and in-
part staffed by the trainees
Liverpool’s Strawberry Field, the iconic site immortalised by John Lennon in The Beatles hit, ‘Strawberry Fields Forever’, opens its famous red gates to the public for the first time in July 2019 as a new commissionable attraction. Previously, the site of the former Salvation Army children’s home, where John Lennon found solace as a child playing in the grounds, Strawberry Field will now consist of a training/work placement hub for young people with learning disabilities and a place for spiritual exploration. The new visitor experience includes an authentic inter-active exhibition with media guide; a café and shop; and tour of the gardens of John’s childhood.
• John Lennon, his Liverpool childhood, The Beatles, the song ‘Strawberry Fields Forever’
• Part of the nation’s rich cultural heritage complementing other Beatles attractions and shining a light on John’s childhood.
• Strawberry Field is to weave together educational, cultural, heritage and spiritual exploration in one bold, imaginative plan. A vibrant visitor experience aims to inspire people today as much as the place inspired the young John Lennon.
• Totally unique and authentic
• A total immersion experience with specialist media guide

TRAINING CENTRE
Teaching a trade to young adults with Learning Disabilities Trainees will help staff the Visitor Experience
“The plans to open Strawberry Field to the public for the first time - so people can see a unique exhibition about the home, how and why the song was written by John, and allow visitors to explore the grounds as John did as a child - is very exciting.” Lady Judy Martin OBE
“The Salvation Army’s plans to rebuild Strawberry Field into a training and work placement hub for young people with learning disabilities, develop a space for spiritual exploration, and to create a visitor experience for all to enjoy, will be the most fitting tribute to my brother. Something I am sure he would have fully supported with pride.” Julia Baird, Honorary President Strawberry Field project
