Today as we celebrate the feast of Easter we find the challenge of also seeing and believing the resurrection that comes through our own lives of self-sacrifice which brings new life to others. As you place your gift in the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Poor Box, know that you are a sign of God’s love to those who are suffering and you give them Easter hope and joy.
Seek refuge in the name
of the Lord
How do we celebrate Easter, the greatest of our Christian feasts? By doing what we do every Sunday and every day: cele-brating the Mass. On the first Easter, as the heartbroken disci-ples walked the road to Emmaus, the Lord was with them but they did not realize it. They only recognized him “in the break-ing of the bread” (Luke 22:35).
It is the same for us. In the Mass—the breaking of the bread—we meet the risen Lord together. We meet him in each other—for by our baptism into his death and resurrection, we have become members of one body, the Body of Christ. We meet him in his word—in the liturgy the scriptures are pro-claimed to us, that they might take root and grow in us. And we meet him in a special way in the Eucharist, the sacrament of his Body and Blood, which is food for resurrection: “whoever eats this bread will live forever” (John 6:51). The Lord is risen in-deed, and it is the Risen One who truly presides at this and eve-ry Eucharist.

The Eucharist: Food for Resurrection
FEASTS OF FAITH
The 37th Annual Bloomin’ Festival Arts and Craft Fair to be held on Saturday and Sunday, April 17-18, 2021.
St. Bernard has been recognized by the Southeast Tourism Society several years as a “Top Twenty Event in the Southeast.” Bloomin’ Festival is a two day juried arts festival attracting more than 25,000 visitors to the beautiful campus of St. Ber-nard Abbey and Prep School. Located adjacent to the school is the world famous Ave Maria Grotto. The picturesque landscape of stone cut buildings on the grounds of Alabama’s only Abbey provides a backdrop for the out-of-doors show. More than 150 booths are filled with artists demonstrating and exhibiting their work. The festival is the largest fundraiser annually for the operation and mainte-nance of the school. Special discounted rates are offered for the weekend to visit Ave Maria Grotto. Completing the weekend is the give-away of a new automobile and other valuable prizes.
Camp St. Bernard is back in 2021! We will have our traditional summer camp for boys and girls ages 8-14 this summer during the month of June. This summer, campers ages 8-14 can enjoy the campus of St. Bernard Abbey and Prep School, visit with old friends, and make new ones, all in a safe, family atmosphere. More information is available at campstbernard.com including health and safety protocols and contact information for any questions.
