God in all things
Grumblings and bread - John 6:35,41-51 The people started grumbling about him, because he said, 'I am the
bread that came down from heaven'. So they said, 'This man is Jesus
son of Joseph, isn't he? We know his father and mother. How, then,
does he now say he came down from heaven?' Jesus answered, 'Stop
grumbling among yourselves. People cannot come to me unless the
Father who sent me draws them to me; and I will raise them to life
on the last day.' (verses 41-44)
(read John 6:35, 41-51)
Throughout time people have grumbled about God. The Israelites had a good
old grumble only a month after God had rescued them from slavery. 'Why did
you bring us here to the desert where there's no food?' they grumbled. God's
response? He sent them bread from heaven. It saved their lives.
Many years later, the people listening to Jesus grumbled about him because he
claimed to have come down from heaven when everyone knew he was the son
of Joseph and Mary. Jesus' response? He told them he was indeed the bread
that came down from heaven. Bread that could save lives for eternity.
People still grumble about God today. 'If there is a God', they say, 'why doesn't
he stop wars and child abuse and other horrors?' God's response? He still
offers to a sin-sick world the life-saving bread: Jesus.
It's an offer we need to pass on. Jesus is drawing people to himself through us
and when they are filled with the life he gives, there won't be so much for
them to grumble about.
Jesus, thank you for feeding me and being my bread of life. Help
me to spread your bread. Amen (adapted by Lutheran Media, from a devotion written by Grace Simpson in the LCA
book “God’s Promises for each day”.)

Our Term 3 working bee will be held on Saturday 22 August. Rostered families involved this time are from
Rooms 1, 2 & B, together with others who have been unable to attend their previously rostered working bee.
Please look out for a working bee reply slip which will be coming home soon to all families rostered on for this
working bee.
The usual tasks will be on the list to be done on the day and useful tools to bring along include forks, shovels,
wheelbarrows, gardening gloves, pruners, rakes, yard brooms and cobweb brooms.
Attendees on the day should make sure they sign in—which serves two purposes. The first is for insurance and
the second is so that your name does not reappear on the working bee roster for next term.

Family Service
Thank you to our wonderful students and staff
from the Early Learning Centre, who
participated so beautifully in the service at St
Peters on Sunday. It certainly was a special
worship time. Thanks also to the staff who
helped with the music at Sunday’s service.
Illnesses A reminder to all families – please do not send your children to school if they are sick.
There are a number of coughs/colds/tummy bugs going around in our community at the
moment. As we all know, children have an amazing capacity to pass on their unwanted
bugs to others. In the interests of keeping our community as healthy as possible, please
do not send your children back to school until they are well again. If your child has
vomited, we ask that you wait at least 24 hours before returning to school. We really
appreciate your support with this.
Musical Thanks
The school musical has once again been a great
success this year. We have seen energetic and
enthusiastic performances from all our students
and we are very proud of each and every one.
Thank you to all parents who have supported
their children learning lines and songs and
dressing them in perfect costumes for our
production. A mighty thank you to Miss Geue
(Director) and all the staff who work hard to
prepare the students and the myriad of other
things that need to be done to present such a
professional show. If you haven't seen it yet and
are coming tonight, you are in for a treat!
Congratulations to all involved.
Our Term 3 Principal’s Tour will be held next
Wednesday 19 August, from 9am. If you know
of anyone looking for a school or Early Learning
Centre in this area, please encourage them to
contact the school to book a place on the tour.

2/3 Netball We had some success getting the balls down the court even though the other team had some tall players. The
team we played against was Flagstaff Hill. We played as a team and we worked together and played well. It
was fun. Tahli C
SAPSASA Basketball
Two boys basketball teams ventured out to played in the SAPSASA state carnival last Thursday. Both teams
showed great improvement over the day and had some good matches and some good wins.
As always, it was lovely to watch the St Peters spirit as the boys certainly dug deep and worked hard while
supporting and encouraging each other.
The girls showed true St Peters fighting spirit in the State Carnival last Wednesday against some skillful
opponents. After a slow start the girls figured out some strategies to attack and tightened up their defensive
efforts. Hayley, Holly and Lily demonstrated their basketball skills bringing the ball down the court and putting
numerous shots up. Olivia and Lauren pulled off some great intercepts while Georgia and Charlize used their
height to put on lots of defensive pressure and win some rebounds. It was great to watch the girls get better
and better as the day went on. If there was another game I'm sure we would have pulled off the win.
Well done to all involved!
