Presentation Outline
The new five-year hosting program will capitalize on recent
successes. A toolkit and resources will be developed that will
help communities and organizations attract, manage and
leverage events to boost tourism revenue and support economic
diversification.

• $500,000 total annually for smaller-sized events
• Grants $3,000 to $8,000
• Mid-sized sport event funding
• Up to $500K annually for medium-sized events
• Grants $25,000 to $150,000
• Provincial Multisport Games
• BC Summer Games, BC Winter Games and 55+ BC Games ($2.2 million in total, annually)
Event Funding – Current Programs
Arts and Culture: CSCD and BC Arts Council for small and mid-size events (2014/15)
• $1.05M in professional festival funding • $150K in community arts festival funding • Up to $500K in discretionary arts and culture funds, including
$250K for EventHost BC (one-time grant program)
Community Gaming Grants (2014/15) • ~$3.6M in community gaming for festivals and fairs

Other Provincial Programs: Marquee Events
• High-profile events such as: • FIFA Women’s World Cup, Canada Winter Games, Juno Awards
• Budget of $250K+ Resort Municipality Initiative
• $10.5M to assist 14 small, tourism-based municipalities to support and increase visitation, ie. Whistler World Cup, Tofino Film Festival, Sun Peaks Summer Concert Series
Tourism Events Program (New)
• Support for planning, marketing, and organization of provincially significant events and celebrations that offer a high tourism value.
Event Funding

• Identify strategic priorities for the province and explore opportunities for cross-sector collaboration.
• Target events that support Government’s tourism and economic development strategy.
• Proactively support communities to successfully bid on and host events with an Event Hosting Toolkit.
