Article 5: Calculation of Total Potential Exposure

Each day, SPP performs the following:

• Determine the Total Potential Exposure (TPE) of each Credit Customer.

• Compare the TPE of each Credit Customer to that Customer’s TCL.

• Results:

Transmission Service Potential Exposure (TSPE)

Market Exposure (ME)

Total Potential Exposure (TPE)

Unsecured Credit Allowance

Financial Security (Secured Credit)

Total Credit Limit (TCL)

If Total Potential Exposure (TPE)…

The Total Credit Limit (TCL)…> If Secured

…the Customer must provide financial security to SPP in the amount of the difference.

STEP 1: Take the greater of:

(a) The average of last 365 days of daily settlement activity (or if settlement activity occurred for a lesser period, the average settlement activity during such lesser period), OR

(b) The average of the last 7 days of daily settlement activity (if for a lesser period, if the average settlement activity during such lesser period).

MEME = Maximum Estimated MarketExposure (based on historical usage)

• The components used to estimate the average of the last seven (7) days of daily settlement activity can differ by market.• Real-Time (RT) = Operating Day + 7• Day-Ahead (DA) = Operating Day + 7;

Calculating Credit Exposure – ME (cont’d.) ME Example(cont’d.):

• The EVE for a bid would be calculated as follows:

• The EVE for a offer would be calculated as follows:

• Hourly EVEs for each bid/offer are calculated separately and then summed to determine the EVE for the bids/offers in a single submission.

Calculating Credit Exposure – ME (cont’d.)ME Example(cont’d.):

• Once the DA Market is solved, EVEs are updated by replacing the maximum MWs with the actual MWs awarded.

• The Bid and Offer Reference Prices are unchanged.
