Welcome to the 2020 school year and already we are nearing the end of week two. All students have settled into their new classes and engaged in learning.
Our school and community are very lucky to have access to our school swimming pool. Our students are taught swimming terms one and four. Many schools are only able to provide swimming lessons for one week per year whereas our students receive swimming lessons weekly for two terms per year.
What sets our school above other schools:
Small class sizes, expert teaching teams Curriculum rigor across all learning areas Individual student support Dedicated Arts program LOTE program Instrumental music Choir Sport including Interschool sport Well resourced Beautiful grounds Access to a bus to transport students to events
Our school is a great school.

School Priorities
Our priorities for 2020 are, writing, reading, Positive Behaviour for Learning and collegial development for teaching staff. Writing has been a focus for the school and the school has adopted the John Collins approach to writing. Across the school there has been improvement evidenced in the writing development of our students. This year our focus includes reading. Our classes have timetabled reading and literacy block and additional staff are allocated classes during this time to provide students with individual or small group learning opportunities. Theodore State School follows the Positive Behaviour for Learning Framework which identifies our school expectations of ‘Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be a Learner. From this the schools Responsible Behaviour Plan and Behaviour Matrix is established and endorsed by the P&C.
School Uniform It has been wonderful to see students in the correct school uniform. Thank you parents. Just a reminder that football shorts with logos are not part of our school uniform and not to be worn to school. Secondary students are wearing their new uniform with pride. Thank you to Evolution Mining for purchasing every Secondary Student a new Secondary Shirt in the new design.
Positive Behaviour for Learning(PBL) is taught at Theodore State School
Every member of the school community (school staff, parents and students) have a role to play in creating a safe, supportive and disciplined school environment, where students can learn and achieve, feel safe and supported. Each week our students are explicitly taught strategies and techniques that promote a positive school climate.
This is Theo the PBL Mascot. Students at TSS submitted designs and Theo was voted the winning design.
Thank you Ms Kristina Hall, Arts Teacher at TSS who created the digital image .
