St. Patrick’s Cemetery
St. Patrick Parish offers headstones and monuments for our cemetery. The sale of these items will help defray upkeep costs for the cemetery and build a nest egg for future upkeep. We offer granite monuments, angel statues, memorials, tombstones, cremation urns, and vases. Call the Office (562-2370) to set up an appointment to create a memorial for your loved one.
Dear Community,
For this Fifth Sunday of Lent we read the passage from the Gospel of John about a woman caught in adultery. The scribes and Pharisees brought the woman before Jesus, hoping to severely punish her. As we meditate with this passage from scriptures, I think there are two lessons we can take from it.
First, we should ask: “Is it our role to judge a person for his/her sins? Do we truly have the autonomy to do so?” After reading this Gospel, the answer is no. Even speaking about someone’s sins is an act of judgment. It affects the good name and dignity of the person, and it is a sin in itself. The sacrament of Confession is not a judgement, rather a moment of mercy. The priest acts in Persona
Christi, meaning Christ forgives the person’s sins through the ministry of the priest.
The second teaching moment is about God’s mercy. After everyone left, Jesus asked the woman, “… where are they?” And this is the great moment of mercy in the Gospel, “Neither do I condemn you. Go, and from now on do not sin anymore.”
During this year, we are learning about God’s great mercy toward us. He is truly a merciful father who is willing to forgive our sins as long as we recognize them. He also tells us “Go, and from now on do not sin anymore.”
God bless you all.

Rev. Johnson Lopez, Pastor
Estimada Comunidad,

God is patient, God is faithful, and
God is ready to forgive us anything!
A great Jesuit practice is to immerse ourselves into the
gospel stories as if we were there. Pope Francis, raised
in that tradition, suggests that we see ourselves as
actors in Jesus' parables – as the lost lamb, as the
missing coin, as the son who has lost everything coming
home in disgrace. All those stories speak of the urgency
of the one who searches, who waits, who is so eager to
find us, and the one who runs to embrace us with joy that overflows. How amazing to
think that this is how God loves us!
The
Doors
of Mercy
are Open
Ponder
Are my eyes and heart open enough to embrace that
enormity of God's love for me? Am I ready to share
that unconditionally with others?
Pray
Lord, when I cannot imagine that depth of your love
and forgiveness, help me to act as if I do, and grant
me the faith to begin to believe it! Amen
