PRADA COMES TO TOWN
The frst Prada boutique in Geneva has
rapidly become a must-visit destination.
Located on rue du Rhône in the heart of the
luxury shopping district, it is the brand’s largest
store in Switzerland and has two entrances,
inviting customers into diferent sections: one
for the women’s collection and the other for the
men’s. The boutique is spread over two foors
and presents women’s and men’s ready-to-
wear, leather goods, accessories and footwear
collections. The new shopping space uses
the hallmark materials of Prada’s worldwide
identity, from black metal to green fabric, and
overlooks the city and Lake Geneva through
large windows. The store is also home to an
exclusive formalwear section, which houses the
brand’s made-to-measure service. es

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HILFIGER
This year is the 30th anniversary of the
founding of Tommy Hilfger, and the spring
collection of the American lifestyle brand is a
perfect showcase of the reasons for its longevity.
The signature Hilfger blend of dressed-up
glamour and dressed-down east-coast American
style is featured in crisp white silhouettes, while
a dash of rock ’n’ roll style is added with the
inclusion of accessories. Scarves splashed with
stars, along with trilbies and ankle boots, add
a grungy edge to the clean lines and colours of
the spring collection. The brand is opening a
new store in Lucerne in April and another in St
Moritz in August, making this a great year for
Tommy Hilfger in Switzerland. hl

WELCOME BACK BOSS
Last year Hugo Boss in Zürich opened
its doors to a newly redesigned fagship
store. The interior has more retail space and
is beautifully lined with stylish black steel
structures, LED strips and fabric wall panels.
Zürich’s newly refurbished Boss boutique also
focuses on refective elements, with high-
gloss surfaces and several mirrored walls.
The new space is classic and sleek, providing
visitors with a gloriously luxurious shopping
experience. A generous range of the brand’s
collections is stocked, with women’s clothing,
shoes and accessories on the ground foor and
menswear on the upper foor. An exclusive
made-to-measure area is also now in operation,
which highlights the overarching exclusivity

CLEAN CUT
To mark the 130th anniversary of Victorinox,
the brand has opened its frst fagship store in
Zürich. Founded at Ibach-Schwyz near Zürich,
the Swiss company now has two fagships in the
native country of the famous Swiss army knife.
The new shop is centrally located at Rennweg
58 and has 220 square metres of retail space.
The interior design features materials that
refect the core values of Victorinox: oak for
tradition; steel for the famous knife; concrete
for modernity; and red to represent the brand’s
logo. It carries everything from travel gear and
timepieces to fashion and fragrances. Of course
there is a special area dedicated to the pocket
knife, and here customers can personalise their
very own at an interactive station. Choose from
a range of colours, sizes and functions to create
a product to your specifcations. th

THE EPITOME OF STYLE
Fine watch manufacturer Vacheron
Constantin has designed a store that exudes
luxury and sophistication just as much as its
timepieces do. The brand’s Geneva boutique
has recently reopened after refurbishment
and features an elegant taupe and black colour
scheme along with grand ceiling lights, plush
seating and glass display cabinets. The two-
storey space is decked in leather and wood
and is located on place de Longemalle, which
is adjacent to rue du Rhône. The boutique
is designed to serve a cosmopolitan clientele
while also honouring the brand’s connections
with the people of Geneva (this, after all, is the
city where Jean-Marc Vacheron frst set up his
workshop). The ground foor displays the entire
range of Vacheron Constantin collections, as
well as a vintage line. In addition, the frst foor
features a private lounge. Two watchmakers are
permanently on hand in this impressive store,
which is a highlight of the city. rf

‘Geneva is a wonderful place and we felt it deserved a better shopping landscape. We look for the most interesting and relevant brands and make them available here’ – Nicolas Trannoy, Correspondances
Switzerland typically takes a measured
approach to retail reinvention. Rather
than jumping on fast-moving trends, the
country’s style leaders prefer to watch and wait
patiently for a movement to prove successful
before championing it on the shopping
streets. Take, for example, the concept store.
These one-of boutiques have become part
of the Swiss shopping scene only in recent
years and the universal high quality of these
new additions shows that sometimes a more
considered approach pays dividends.
Stores such as Correspondances and
Concept Sud in Geneva ofer diverse fashion
options for the city’s most stylish residents.
Menswear concept store Correspondances
aims to revitalise the appearance of the city by
breaking with tradition. ‘Towns in Europe tend
to look more and more similar – same shops,
same brands – so it becomes very repetitive
and boring,’ explains the store’s owner Nicolas
Trannoy. ‘People are tired of seeing the same
thing and are looking for a more genuine

approach. Geneva is a wonderful place to

The store ofers a mix of modern
menswear, high-end sneakers, music
and cookbooks and aims to highlight the
connections between its diverse product ranges
for its visitors. ‘If you are able to understand
and appreciate the savoir faire in menswear
you are most certainly able to appreciate
music or photography with a similar approach,’
Trannoy explains.
Bertram Seitz, owner of Concept Sud,
also wanted to challenge conventional retail
models when he opened his Geneva-based
store. ‘I wanted to shake the place up by
bringing something diferent, an alternative
to the luxury environment in Geneva,’ explains
Seitz. ‘I’ve created a very personal space where
people can discover avant-garde and timeless
designers. It’s a niche boutique that celebrates
slowness, happiness and identity.’

Even in smaller cities such as Lucerne,
concept stores are on the rise. P25 boutique
was one of the frst to open. ‘We saw a great
opportunity to combine all our passions and
present them to an audience here,’ explains
owner Uriel Koller. ‘Although Zürich and other
cities in Europe are easily accessible, we want
to ofer something to locals and visitors to our
great city and we believe we can keep up on
the national and international stage.’
P25’s selection of high-end womenswear
is focused on brands that are newly established
or have limited availability. ‘We give young
entrepreneurs, including Viu and Dillysocks
of Zürich, a platform in Lucerne, and we also
work with local artists and creatives,’ says
Koller. ‘We want to make you feel right at home
and encourage you to dream.’ For spring/
summer 2015 the store is aiming to extend
its already impressive range beyond fashion.
‘We increasingly want to put our focus on
accessories, books, curios and furnishings,’
Koller explains.
Zürich’s concept store ofering has
recently been bolstered by the opening of
menswear boutique AP&Co in September
2014. Co-owners Jeroen van Rooijen, Reto
Caprez and Nico Pesko spotted a gap in the
menswear market and developed the idea from
there. ‘We felt there was a missing link for
men who look for heritage, quality and spirit,
not just fashion brands; a place where you can
fnd specialities,’ says van Rooijen. ‘We have
a strong history in made-to-measure and felt
it would be good to give it a contemporary
environment, bridging the worlds of business
and leisurewear.’ The store ofers a diverse
selection including knitwear and shirts by Nico
Pesko, neckwear by Friday Tieday and made-
to-measure by Alferano.
Seitz co-owns the store with his wife Maha
Daoudi Seitz and the pair aims to promote
contemporary designers from a range of felds,
from fashion and jewellery to art and interior
décor. ‘We have products on ofer by between
six and eight designers and we strive to renew
the selection every month,’ says Seitz. ‘At the

Albertini, describes it as a little wonderland.
‘There are two storeys flled with menswear,
womenswear and accessories. Next door, in an
old garage, you’ll fnd an atelier with an eclectic
mix of vintage furniture, books and candles by
Astier de Villatte. You have to work your way
through the labyrinth,’ says Purkert.
It looks likely that 2015 will be a big year
for the store. ‘We’ve opened a new shop at
Neumarkt 20 in the Old Town in Zürich. In
spring, we go live with our new e-shop and
we’ll have another big project in the summer,’
Purkert explains. ‘This is the year to visit
Zürich – and us.’

SWEET THINGFor chocolate lovers, there are few more tempting destinations than Switzerland, as Isabella Redmond
Styles fnds out
Switzerland is home to some of the world’s best loved chocolatiers. The country’s chocolate is internationally renowned for its high quality and wonderful favours, so it will come as little surprise to learn that the Swiss have the highest rate of chocolate consumption per head in the world. Swiss chocolate producers uphold their prestigious reputation by their commitment to using only the very best ingredients, and by their manufacturing methods which embrace both traditional recipes and inspired favour pairings. Whether you’re in Geneva, Zürich or Lucerne, there are plenty of places to learn about the country’s historic chocolatiers and, more importantly, taste some of their delicious creations, too.

Confserie Sprüngli has been renowned in Zürich for more than 175 years. Set up by David Sprüngli and his son Rudolf, both of whom had a strong, pioneering spirit, the family-run business is now in its sixth generation. Its pralines, trufes and sumptuous patisserie are made using traditional recipes and high-quality ingredients. Try the signature Luxemburgerli, which can be seen in Sprüngli’s exquisite window displays. These dainty mini macaroons make the perfect gift or mid-afternoon pick-me-up. PATEK PHILIPPE
Legendary watchmaker Patek Philippe celebrated its 175th anniversary last year, and to mark the great occasion the Swiss company launched several rare handcrafted limited-edition models. Intended as a homage to Geneva, the birthplace of Patek Philippe, and to the company’s artisanal legacy, these show-stopping pieces demonstrate the intricate techniques used by Patek Philippe’s watchmakers for nearly two centuries, such as engraving, enamelling and guilloching. BUCHERER
Heritage watchmaker H Moser & Cie and fne jeweller Bucherer have a lot in common. These independent companies from German-speaking areas of Switzerland were founded in the 19th century and so it is natural that they are long-time collaborators. Their most recent project – an addition to the existing Venturer line – is the Venturer Small Seconds Bucherer Edition. In white gold and with a 1960s convex design, the watch is inspired by H Moser & Cie’s historic pocket watches. Be sure to seek out this watch while in Lucerne, as it is exclusively available in Bucherer boutiques in Switzerland, Germany and Austria.

globalblue.com
54

Sally
Concept
Sud
(Bertram
Seitz)

(Maha

(Uriel Koller)
(Reto
