1. Application Registration Process

In order to distribute your application to Samsung Apps TV store, you need to register your

product information at Seller Office and upload app file at Samsung Developer Forum. Once

registration is completed, the application must go through a certification process provided by

Samsung or its Affiliate before being launched on the store.

1.1 Product Information Registration (at Seller Office)

1.1.1 Step 1: Basic Information

① From the main menu, click the [Registration Status] menu which drops down by clicking on

[Applications].

② Click the [Add New] button on the right side of the screen.

* You may also use the “Add New Application” button on the top right corner for direct access to the

product information registration menu.

• Items with (*) mark are required information. Enter information for all items accurately.

• When you have filled in all fields, press “save” button to store your information.

• Application Name(Title) : Application Name must be less than 250 bytes. The name

already being used by somebody else may not be used. Click the [Check] button to check

if whether it is available.

• App Type: Please select it carefully. The App Type cannot be modified once saved.

* Private/Corporate sellers may only select the type of Javascript Based or Flash Based.

- Javascript Based : Web-based applications consisting of HTML, CSS and Javascript.

- Flash Based : Applications containing flash files (.swf)

- Native : Applications running on Samsung Smart TV‟s native engines that would

require languages other than Javascript (i.e. C++)

* The development process for the native apps is different from others. Be sure to contact

Samsung Developer Forum (http://www.samsungdforum.com/) for details.

Private/corporate sellers will only see Javascript and Flash

When you have input all necessary fields, press „continue‟ button and move on to the next

step. When you press the „continue‟ button, your information will automatically be saved.

1.1.2 Step 2: Upload Image

Upload images for your application that will appear at the Samsung Apps TV store.

① Icon Images For TV: Upload images to be used as app icons at the Samsung Apps TV store.

The file size must be less than 500KB and only the PNG file type is permitted. Uploading an

inaccurate image will prohibit you from moving on to the next step.

② Icon & Screenshot images for Web: Upload images to be placed at the website.

The file size must be less than 500KB and only the JPG, GIF or PNG file types are permitted.

* Currently only Korea and the U.S. require screenshot images for the web.

* Private/Corporate sellers must upload screenshot images for the U.S.

③ High Resolution Image Files For Marketing Purpose: By registering files here, you grant

Samsung or its Affiliates rights to use the images solely for the purpose of marketing your

applications or the store itself. The file size must be less than 10MB.

④ Items with (*) mark are required information. Enter information for all items accurately. When

you have input all necessary fields, press „continue‟ button and move on to the next step.

When you press the „continue‟ button, your information will automatically be saved. Click the

[Back] button to go back to the previous step. Please make sure you have saved your data

before going back in order not to lose them.

1.1.3 Step 3: Additional Information

Input descriptions of your application to be displayed to buyers at the Samsung Apps TV store.

① Default Language: Select the standard language. Only one language can be selected.

* English is set as a default language for private/corporate sellers.

② Description (for TV): Input descriptions to be displayed at the Samsung Apps TV store on TV

Characters for descriptions cannot exceed 390 bytes

③ Description (for WEB): Input descriptions to be displayed at the Samsung Apps TV store on

the websites. Websites are currently available for Korea and the U.S. only.

Characters for descriptions cannot exceed 390 bytes

* Private/corporate sellers must fill in descriptions for the website in the U.S.

④ Tag: Enter only if your application is sold in Korea or the U.S. When registering multiple tags,

distinguish them by using commas (,).

⑤ Additional Languages: Besides the default language, you may add additional languages to

describe your applications at the Samsung Apps TV store on TV.

* In order for your descriptions to be properly displayed, the device in the selected countrie(s) must

support the language(s).

⑥ When you input your description in an additional language and click the [Save] button, „W‟

icon will appear on the right side of the selected language. By clicking on the „W‟ icon, the

registered contents can be seen in the applicable language.

⑦ Deselecting the checkbox will delete all contents registered in the applicable language and „W‟

icon will disappear.

⑧ Items with (*) mark are required information. Enter information for all items accurately. When

you have input all necessary fields, press „continue‟ button and move on to the next step.

When you press the „continue‟ button, your information will automatically be saved. Click the

[Back] button to go back to the previous step. Please make sure you have saved your data

before going back in order not to lose them.

1.1.4 Step 4: Sales Information

① Select countries where you want to have your applications serviced. Selected countries are

subject to change during application certification process.

* Private/corporate sellers will see only the U.S. in the serviceable countries column

② Once you have selected the countries, you may set the applicable price, age rating and

category information.

Use the arrow to move countries back and forth between the columns.

Private/corporate sellers will only see “the U.S.” in the “Serviceable Countries” column.

③ In case you have selected Korea or the U.S., you may set the price for your application using

the pricing table provided. Only sellers with the “commercial seller status” may apply the price.

* For further information on how to become commercial sellers (partners), please refer to Section 2.

Commercial Seller Request in this guide.

* Private/corporate sellers may only select the U.S. shop.

④ Click the [Pricing Table] button to search for the Price Tier list.

Select the prices for each shop using the Price Tier provided.

Please refer to the “Age Rating Guide” for more details on the “Rating”

⑤ Category: Select a category to which your application would belong according to the nature of

the application. Refer to the [Category Information] for further information by clicking the [?]

icon. Based on the information you set here, your application shall be distributed to the

corresponding category at the Samsung Apps TV store on TV and Web.

⑥ Rating: Select an appropriate age restriction rating. Refer to the Age Rating Guide for details.

⑦ Rating Certificate may be acquired through an external associated committee for certain

regions or countries. Upload the rating related documents issued by clicking the [Browse]

button.

⑧ For sellers with a Commercial Seller Status, the Item Registration button will be displayed.

You may register product information for your in-app items here. For more information on how

to register items, please refer to the In-App Purchase Guide.

⑨ Items with (*) mark are required information. Enter information for all items accurately. When

you have input all necessary fields, press „continue‟ button and move on to the next step.

When you press the „continue‟ button, your information will automatically be saved. Click the

[Back] button to go back to the previous step. Please make sure you have saved your data

before going back in order not to lose them.

1.1.5 Step 5: Review

① This page allows final review of the registered items and contents. Click the [Go] button to

move to the applicable step if you need to modify information.

② Developer‟s E-Mail Account: Application ID and title are sent to the registered Developer‟s E-

Mail Account. When the developer uploads an app file at Samsung Developer Forum, he or

she must enter the Application ID and the title of the application given here.

③ In order to complete the application registration, be sure to click on the [Complete] button.

When the application information registration is completed, it can be searched from the

Registration Status list.

1.2 Upload Application File (at Samsung Developer Forum)

1.2.1 Upload your App File

① Visit Samsung Developer Forum at http://www.samsungdforum.com , and sign in

② Enter App Certification > App Upload menu and select “New Upload”

* When uploading your app file, you must input Application ID and Title for verification

* If you do not have an Application ID or Title, please register product information at Seller Office.

③ Upload required files for certification

• Application Source File

• Application Description File (UI Doc.)

• Self Check List

* For details on uploading your app file, please visit SDF, App Certification > App Upload Guide,

download the User Guide “Hands on Guide to SDF”

1.3 Application Certification Process

1.3.1 Application Certification (at Samsung Developer Forum)

In order to sell the application at Samsung Apps stores, the application must undergo a

certification process provided by Samsung, or its Affiliate to verify that the applicable product

complies with Samsung‟s sales policies and does not bear any controversies and be confirmed of

the execution without an error from a specified terminal.

The application certification process is done at Samsung Developer Forum (SDF). You may

check the status of your applications under the certification process at “App Certification” menu of

Samsung Developer Forum. Please visit SDF(http://www.samsungdforum.com/ ) for details on

how to develop applications and certification process.

1.3.2 Product Information Review (at Seller Office)

Once certified, your product information is reviewed at Seller Office before being distributed.

Product Information Review process consists of 4 stages: Registration Completed, Certification

Ready, Product Information Under Review and Confirmed. The status can be checked at

„Applications‟ > „Registration Status‟ menu of the Seller Office.

① Registration Completed

You have completed all steps, thus your product information for the application is registered

successfully. The next step is uploading you app file at Samsung Developer Forum and go

through certification process.

② Certification Ready

You have uploaded the App File at SDF, thus ready for the certification.

③ Product Information Under Review

Your application has passed the certification process, thus waiting for the review of product

information before being distributed.

④ Confirmed

Your product information is confirmed, ready to get distributed.

1.4 Application Modification Process

1.4.1 App File modification

After modifying your app file, you need to undergo a certification process again to check if there is

any functional defect or side effect after modification. Please visit Samsung Developer Forum

for details.

1.4.2 Product Information modification

① To modify the product information, click on [Application Title] from the list, click the [Edit]

button in the carried over screen, and then change the information.

Modification is not permitted if the application status is [Product Information Under Review].

② To go to the next stage, click the [Continue] button or the [Back] button to go back.

Click on [Application Title] from the Registration Status list

Click the [Edit] button, and then change the information

③ After modification is completed, be sure to press [Complete] button in Step 5 Review to submit

your modification request.

④ Your request will be reviewed by the Seller Office administrator before being confirmed. In

case your request is inacceptable, the [Rejected] icon as shown below will appear. Click the

icon to check the reasons for the rejection.
