SAFETY AT AECON
Embracing the concept that safety is the responsibility of all parties
• Each employee, manager and owner must have a common goal and vested
interest in the safety throughout the entire project
• All Health and safety program elements must include input from those involved
(hazard assessments, training, inspections, auditing etc.)
• There must be checks and balances in the processes and systems to ensure all
safe practices are followed
• i.e. Work must be safely planned and hazards controlled
• If not, workers have the right to refuse
• i.e Workers must follow the safe work practices and procedures
• If not, peers, supervisors and management must enforce the rules and
correct the issue

SAFETY OPPORTUNITY REPORTING
• Aecon has launched a program focused on tracking key leading indicators such as:
• Safety Opportunities
• Behavioural Observations
• Safety Suggestions
• The program is flexible to allow for reporting onsite through:
• Computers - online
• Mobile devices
• Traditional paper reports
• This process will provide key data on Aecon EHS leading indicators to drive continuous improvement
• Increased reporting from all site employees is key to successfully driving this process
This tells us where we can focus our incident prevention efforts Maintain access / egress ways
Ensure safe tools are supplied and in use (also increases production)
Ensure workers are trained and following safe work practices
