Medical Records department typically request
H&P from hospitals, provide records as requested
from billing department and adheres to HIPAA at
all times. So, what is our medical records
department working on? Making sure their work
is in concentric circle by staying current and
updated on all their work. Organizing patient
documents and physician order.
This department is important because it requires
complete and accurate maintenance of patient
records and documents. All medical staff can
access all patient information and history. It is an
essential department for continuity of patient
care. Being in Medical Records requires detective
work. Locating Doctors, verifying correct PCP and
just confirming accurate information.
Most of all the medical records team help out
where needed!
Medical RecordsThere is more to patient records
than meets the eye.
When we think of Medical Records in a home
health agency we think of simple file keeping
however it is far and beyond record keeping. In
speaking to Gina, Lynn and Eunice there is
meticulous work involved that requires attention
to detail. They take absolute pride and care in
ensuring that all the elements of patient records
are accounted for on a daily basis. Our medical
records team is able to accomplish so much in
such a demanding deadline. Their main duties
require that they are in compliant with signed
orders and that patient records are uploaded onto
our EMR program. Furthermore, they track all
orders and verify that the doctors information is
correct.

of life care at home. Nikki Legaspi, RN Director of
Patient Care Services and her team are committed
to providing superior care to patients and their
loved ones.
Recently, Hospice underwent a Joint Commission
survey. By no surprise Hospice passed with no
conditions with the guidance and leadership of
Nikki. A few names to mention are Julie Sosa, RN,
Stephanie Jelinek, LVN Performance Improvement
Coordinator, Jazmine Thierry, Office Coordinator,
Crystal Camba, Administrative Assistant, Earl
Middleton, Spiritual Counselor and Stephanie
Reade, MSW and our contractors who really
stepped up their game in order to make sure we
