Reading Reason 5
Reading makes you smarter!
Coaching
• Whenever players have time off from practice, they become rusty.
• Monday practices are the hardest because after a few days off, the players lose their sharpness.
Rusty Readers
• Students who do not read every day become rusty at reading.
• If you did not read over the summer, you are out of reading shape when school starts in September.
Estimate TV Time
• Estimate how many hours of TV you have watched over the past 7 days. (15)
• Multiply that number by 52 to estimate the number of hours you might watch in a year. (780)
• Multiply by 5 to estimate how many hours you might watch in five years. (3,900)
• Chart your results like the example on the next page.
