Nobel Prize
Robert Fogel won a Nobel Prize in1993 for his unique way of findingfacts.
This method of discovering factsconsists of running tons and tons ofnumerical data through a computerwhich will process it down and allowone to draw conclusions
In his book Time on the Cross he usedthis technique to “prove” that besidepsychological treatment slaves in thesouth where tested better than freenorthern industrial workers.
This idea met much resistance fromhistorians and from reading his bookI have learned that in truth the keythat you need to know upon which hislogic falls apart is that he says…
Something to the effect of besidespsychological treatment this being akey point easily overlooked.
His current political views are “If poorpeople today grow nearly as tall, livealmost as long and surf roughly asmany cable channels as rich people, shouldn’t liberals stop whining?”
