Proceeds received from the Rising Sun Run will benefit our community
youth leadership and activities:
INTERACT:A high school club for youth ages 12 - 18 who carry out service projects and learn about the
world.
ROTARACT:People age 18 - 30 in universities and communities worldwide to organize service activities, and
develop leadership and professional skills.
RYLA:Rotary Youth Leadership Awards - Events are typically 3 - 10 days long and include presentations,
activities, and workshops that cover a variety of topics, including leadership fundamentals,
communication skills ethics, problem solving and conflict management. For High School students
VOCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS:Provide scholarships to college students pursuing a vocational degree. This year we gave out 5
scholarships of $1,000.00 each
The Rising Sun Run- Why We Do It
BackgroundStarted in 2012:Run Your Own 401K. A fun run. Grew into a 5/10k race and a ½ marathon was added in 2015
(180 runners).

Steady growth in participation from 2012 to 2019. Last year the numbers were
down: other events going on; more PR needed; etc., etc. Got to work the
participation!!!
