The HYDRA project
HYDRA project Strategy
The overall objective of the project is to decarbonise the steel production process through the
acquisition of knowledge and technologies and to support the hydrogen infrastructure.
4 main lines are targeted in order to develop hydrogen use:
1. an integrated infrastructural system for the supply of green hydrogen (loop for testing)
2. an innovative hydrogen-fuelled direct reduction pilot plant (10000 ton/year)
3. a hydrogen electric furnace with very low or zero CO2 emissions (3, 4 industrial sites)
4. a hydrogen reheating furnace for subsequent rolling treatments (3, 4 industrial sites)
