The Ministry of Human Resources Development, Govt. of India, under the
scheme of Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and
Teaching, sanctioned to the UGC Human Resources Development Centre of
the Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, a
Training Programme on “Academic
Leadership”, for conducting at Hasanath
College for Women, Bangalore from 20th
to 23rd March 2017.
Hasanath Degree College for
Women, under the dynamic leadership
of the Hasanath Education Society’s
President, and it Principal, Dr.
Mohammad Suhail Iqbal rose to the
challenge.
As many as 60 delegates attended the 4-
day programme, comprising of 18 Principals of
Under-graduate colleges, 4 Vice-Principals, 30
Heads of Departments from different Colleges
and 8 Senior Faculty Members.
The honours for succinctly putting across
points were shared between Janab Dr. Sajid
Jamal, Professor of
Education, AMU on the
first two days, and Janab
Prof. M. Muzammil,
Former Vice Chancellor of
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar
University, Agra and
M.J.P. Rohilkhand
University, Bareilly, in the
next two days.
The two knowledgeable veteran Guests resource persons brooked nothing less
than what is of utmost importance for the attending Principals and Professors
from the point of the teaching skills and management of human as well material
resources. With the fund of innovative information and nuances of management
related to the field of Education, they both had convincingly exposed, nay,
enthralled the audience to their follow-up responsibility. No amount of
expression of gratitude of the elite gathering will suffice. In due course of time,
with a perseverant follow-up, each one of the serious audience should be able to
do justice to the humongous effort of the two serious resources persons.
While Professor Jamal exposed
the audience to the finer aspects of
History of Higher Education in India,
what Inclusive Education should meet,
the contemporary challenges in
Education, measuring the competency
of teachers and the concept of
teachers as leaders, followed by a
workshop for the participants related
to creation of Academic Interest, Time
Management, etc., Prof. Mohammad
Muzammil exposed the audience to the
changes that had effected the
education system in terms of the
quantum and technicalities of
information and the consequent
demands it places on the time and
management effort of the teachers
over the decades. An insight was also
provided by Prof. Sajid Jamal on the
budgeting and related financial
aspects in higher education.
When the audience impartially
assesses the magnitude of exposure
they had, they would realize that no
where else would they be able to get
such a fund of information, based on
years of study and experience of the
erudite scholars. For this exposure,
the participants should be indebted not
only to the Aligarh Muslim University,
but mainly to the two scholarly
veterans.
The success of any programme
depends on not just the conduct of the
fair however smoothly, but on the
outcome in generating ideas that
would beacon a change in systems
wherever they are desirable. There is
no doubt that beneficiaries, would
make their attendance at this Seminar
a starting point and come out with
innovations in their respective
disciplines and subject areas in the training of their wards. They cannot afford
to forget even for a moment that in keeping with the trends as in the case of pure
sciences and their technological applications, Education too, likewise, requires
a continual burnishing to tread on to innovative method of training adaptations.
If educational establishments sit on the training infrastructure that
happened to be created in a bygone era, it would be deluding itself, by it
receding into oblivion gradually. The participants more than realized that the
scholarly visitors, representing the AMU, had left behind lots of challenges to be
tackled in bringing in excellence in the respective fields of training
administration of the audience. That the 4-day conference was meant to find
critical ways and means of resolving some of the more urgent problems that
have been plaguing our establishments is a task that needs to be fulfilled only
through the subsequent unstinted devotion by the participants, needs no further
explanation.
