Background of Joint Survey on fora
GSC Meeting TTC proposed a collaboration in fora survey among CJK members
in 2005(GSC10) → Agreed (April.06)
TTC presented the first report of survey at GSC12
CJK Standard Meeting CCSA as the convener of Ad-hoc Group on Fora is responsible at CJK9
(the convener of AHGF is rotated among CJK Members (TTC-> TTA-
>CCSA)
→ Agreed (CJK7))
CCSA has surveyed and analyzed about 227 fora
CCSA will present the revised report of fora survey at GSC14
Fostering worldwide interoperability 3Geneva, 13-16 July 2009
Made a detailed survey over 227 fora world-widely, took the analysis and statistics in the multiple dimensions. The materials can be provided for other PSOs for their further plans and investigations.Elaborated on the latest technologies and the standardization activities on Home Networks Analysis on the relationship between the De-facto standards and de-jure standards

Analysis of the fora purpose of activity
Implementation/interoperability:67
de facto standard:68
Pre-standard:46
Others:46
De facto standard: a convention, product, or system that has achieved a dominant position by public acceptance or market forces
Pre-standardization: To produce standards which are likely to be contributed to the standard development organization
Implementation & interoperability: specifications for implementation and ensuring interoperability
Others: the fora which aims at future vision, market researching, consulting or enlightenment.

Fostering worldwide interoperability
Challenges-- How to harmonize the De-facto standards
Facts:In 2008, the de-facto and interoperability (also related to “fact” ) is nearly 60% of the fora activities.
Those standards were discussed and produced inside the fora, lack of the related industry-level information from the Standardization Organization

Home network is a network with multiple devices connected by wired or wireless technology in a limited area (e.g., inside a home or office), and this network is built to meet the customer requirements and provide services and applications to customers.
Industry Understanding of home network Application maturity
IT/consumer electronics
Breaking “information islands”, connecting among
the information devices, communication
equipments and consumer electronics devices to
implement resource sharing and collaborative
working
Not mature yet, mainly test in laboratoryLess commercial implementation
Communication connecting with telecommunication network, or
even be part of E2E telecommunication network,
extending the functions and applications of public
network to home by residential gateway.
Mature industry chain, services and applications have been accepted by consumersApplications include sharing broadband connection among multiple PCs, trip-play services, parent control, etc.
Residentialcommunity/Property
management
The concept of intelligent community and
intelligent home, may provide such services as
remote automatic metering, community and home
security, community medical service, etc.
Mature technology and many products availableHave been deployed in many areas
