UNCLE WALLY WONDERSCATCHING WILD PIGSThere was a chemistry professor in a large college that hadone exchange students in the class. One day while the class wasin the lab, the professor noticed the young man, who keptrubbing his back and stretching as if his back hurt. The professorasked the young man what was the matter. The student toldhim he had a bullet lodged in his back. He had been shot whilefighting communists in his native country who were trying tooverthrow his country's government and install a new
communist regime. In the midst of his story, he looked at the professor and askeda strange question. He asked: "Do you know how to catch wildpigs?" The professor thought it was a joke and asked for thepunch line. The young man said that it was no joke. "You catchwild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and puttingcorn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn. "When they are used to coming everyday, you put a fence down one side of the place where they areused to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin toeat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence."They get used to that and star t to eat again. You continue untilyou have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the lastside. "The pigs, which are used to the free corn, start to comethrough the gate to eat that free corn again. You then slam thegate on them and catch the whole herd. Suddenly the wildpigs have lost their freedom. They run around and aroundinside the fence, but they are caught. Soon, they go back toeating the free corn. They are so used to it that they haveforgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so theyaccept their captivity."The young man then told the professor that is exactly what hesees happening in America .. The government keeps pushingus toward Socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out inthe form of programs such as supplemental income, tax creditfor unearned income, tax exemptions, tobacco subsidies, dairysubsidies, payments not to plant crops ( CRP ), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc. while we continually lose our freedoms, just a little a t a time.I wonder, will we wake up before they slam the gate on us?It doesnt appear so.

was The Medieval Period which was
incorporated into all of the students

blueprints, using no power tools.
They also performed a medieval play,
had a medieval style feast and created
a board game based upon the times.
The Adirondack School of

UNCLE WALLY WONDERS
Every year at this time nominations for the Ancil Payne Awardsfor Ethics in Journalism are accepted by The University ofOregon School of Journalism and Communication. This Annualaward recognizes American journalists and news organizationsthat demonstrate an extraordinary commitment to ethics.During a time when, according to a new Gallup poll, less thana quarter of the American public gives journalists high marksfor honesty and ethics, it is even more important to recognizethose who embody those very values, said Tim Gleason, Deanof the University of Oregon School of Journalism andCommunication. In 2012, Ancil Payne Awards were given to freelance journalistsMatthew LaPlante and Rick Egan for their efforts to documentthe ritual killing of cursed children in Ethiopias South OmoRiver Valley, and to the Yancey County News, a weeklynewspaper in rural Burnsville, North Carolina which, in 15months of operation, established itself as a check on corruptlocal law enforcement. The Ancil Payne Awards accepts entries from newsorganizations and professional and student journalists inbroadcasting, print, or digital media. Journalists and outletscan nominate themselves or be nominated by a third party.Nominations for the Ancil Payne Awards are limited to materialpublished, broadcast, or posted in the United States, or decisionsmade by journalists or news organizations based in the UnitedStates. Nominations can be submitted online at http://
journalism.uoregon.edu/payneawards/forms_criteria and are dueno later than February 28, 2013. In the opinion of this writer, there can be NO LEGITIMATE NOMINATIONS this year. For obvious reasons. There are NO ETHICS in Journalismany more. For the most part, the so-called main stream media,be it print, TV or radio, is controlled and staffed by leftistswith an unstated but obvious leftist bias. As a counter to theirunstated bias is the Conservative media, more honest about itsbias, and therefore, more ethical in its practises, but, non theless biased. I wonder if our media will ever return to reportingfascts rather than opinions. I think not. We will have to be eyewitnesses to everything in order to know the truth. In thatrespect, the I-phone (and its competitors) may be our onlytruth detector.
