Notes: The takeover zone is 30m long, of which the scratch line is 20m from the start of the zone (marked with blue tick).
Measurements are for a standard 400m track with straights of 84.39m and bends with a 36.50m radius.
The stagger for the start of the 4x200m in lanes is double the 400m start line stagger. For a non-standard 400m track, double the 400m stagger distance for each lane (A = C x 2). With such a large stagger of 136.78m in Lane 10, ensure that your speakers work that far around the bend and that you have appropriate check starters in place.
The stagger for the first change of the 4x200m in lanes is the sum of the stagger for the 400m start and the 200m start (B = C + D). With a large stagger of 102.59m in Lane 10, ensure you have sufficient umpires to oversee the changeover.
The second change occurs at the standard 400m start line.
The third change occurs at the standard 200m start line.

Medley Relay track markingsStaggers for a standard 400m track
The Medley Relay race shall be run in lanes for the first two legs, as well as that part of the third leg up to the nearer edge of the breakline, where athletes may leave their respective lanes (two bends in lanes).
In the Medley Relay, the athletes running the final leg, the athletes running the third and fourth legs shall, under the direction of a designated official, place themselves in their waiting position in the same order (inside to out) as the order of their respective team members as they enter the last bend. Once the incoming athletes have passed this point, the waiting athletes shall maintain their order, and shall not exchange positions at the beginning of the takeover zone.
If an athlete does not follow this Rule, his/her team shall be disqualified.

Notes:
Only the first leg is run entirely in lanes, and the second leg is partly run in lanes. Thereafter, each athlete is entitled (subject to the rules of obstruction and interference) to run in lane 1.
Runner 1 (100m) - The race begins at the 200m start, with the first runner running 100m entirely in their lane.
Runner 2 (300m) - The second runner receives the baton in their designated lane, within the third 4x100m changeover zone, (yellow marks), running part of their section (leg) in their designated lane. Once the athlete has entered the front straight and the designated markers (eg small cones), they may cut across to run on the inside lanes.
Runner 3 (200m) - The third runner commences at the 200m start point within the unlaned 4x200m change zone (blue marks). The athletes shall be placed on the track, by the designated Official from inside to outside, in the order that the 2nd runner passes the finish line. Once placed in order by the competition officials, they may not change order.
Runner 4 (400m) - The final change over occurs in the 4x400 change zone (same as the 800m runner in the Medley relay). Athletes shall be placed on the track by the designated official, from inside to outside in the order that the team completes the second leg (same order from as the change between the 2nd and 3rd runner). Once placed in order by the competition officials, they may not change order.
