One of the proposals that Nottingham City Council is responsible for is demolishing and rebuilding the Broadmarsh Bus Station and Car Park. This will transform it into a brand new development with retail outlets and modern bus station and car parking facilities. This means closing the Broadmarsh Bus Station to safely demolish the building, although intu Broadmarsh will remain open as usual.
We understand this may cause you some inconvenience and will do all we can to keep disruption to a minimum, but we hope you agree that an overhaul of this part of the city and these facilities is needed and that these improvements will be worth it in the long run.
In the meantime, in this leaflet you’ll find where the buses in the area will stop while the redevelopment is underway. If your bus does not stop in Broadmarsh Bus Station, you will not see any changes except for the 34, 77, 78 and 79 which make minor moves. You can find more about these inside.
Over the next few years, £250m is set to be invested in a range of schemes which will transform and regenerate the Broadmarsh area

Demolition will take around six months and is expected to start in July 2017
Buses will depart from stops on Collin Street and Canal Street – see map for details of which stop your bus service will use. National Express will arrive/leave from Station Street
Traffic will be restricted by one lane on Collin Street, Middle Hill and Canal Street
The section of Carrington Street alongside the bus station will be closed to buses and taxis but remain open for pedestrians
Taxis will no longer rank in Carrington Street – the nearest rank is on Trent Street near the train station
Car parking can be found at alternative sites around the city, or you can use one of the city’s Park & Ride sites
More information can be found at the Better Broadmarsh website, where you can sign up for a newsletter to keep you informed of any developments.

What are the plans? The plans for the new Broadmarsh area are among the biggest city centre regeneration projects in the UK at the moment, with the area in need of investment and new life breathing into it.
Redevelopment of the shopping centre by intu to create a modern destination for customers to shop, eat, relax and socialise throughout the day and evening; including the introduction of a new nine screen cinema
The demolition and rebuilding of the Broadmarsh car park to modernise parking facilities, the bus station and create new cafés and retail opportunities which spill out onto Collin Street and Carrington Street
The creation of a new public, pedestrianised space on Collin Street
These developments are expected to boost the local economy by over £1billion per decade, create nearly 3,000 jobs for local people and attract an extra three million people a year to the city, bringing with them an estimated £25m increase in spending.
Proposals for the area include:
The pedestrianisation of (upper) Carrington Street, between the new public space on Collin Street and Canal Street
The creation of a brand new flagship Skills Hub for the city by New College Nottingham and Central College Nottingham to the east of Middle Hill, which will serve nearly 20,000 students
Linking this part of the city to Nottingham Castle which will be transformed into a world-class destination, hosting 400,000 visitors annually
