Ratifying the Constitution
• Federalists argued that the new government would provide a better balance between the national and state governments.
• Antifederalists 1)feared that the new constitution would give the central government too much power. 2)the new Constitution did not have a Bill of Rights
The Bill of Rights
• Congress added 10 amendments to the Constitution called the Bill of Rights that would protect people’s rights.
• Examples-freedom of speech, religion, press.
