Park’s Edge Preschool
Put a little PEP in your life!
Ms. Caitlin 06/14/2017 Ms. Julie 06/25/2015
Dear Park’s Edge Preschool Families: Thursday, May 24th PEP families and staff celebrated together twenty-four preschool graduates crossing the bridge from preschool to five-year-old kindergarten in fall 2018. Thank you, to Emanuel Church and the Good News Group, for supporting PEP’s Preschool Graduation by giving books and a goodie-bag to every preschool graduate! Congratulations to all 2018 graduates big and small! ‘Muchas Gracias’ to the ‘Good News’ Group of Emanuel Church! The Park’s Edge Preschool staff were treated to an Appreciation Luncheon on Saturday, May 5th…on Cinco De Mayo! The PEP faculty toured 3 accredited child care centers in Waukesha County by the PEP bus and then went to lunch at Jose’s Blue Sombrero at Goerke’s Corners, Brookfield. Touring other child care centers falls under the classification of continuing education and can be used towards meeting the twenty-five hours annual requirement. The first stop on the list was Wee Know School. The center is in the former Bark River School on HWY 83 in Hartland. Second tour stop was at WCTC’s Child Development Center, located on the Pewaukee Campus and is also a teaching lab for early childhood students from WCTC, Carrol College and UW-Whitewater. Apple Ridge was our last destination located in
Brookfield. Each center, unique in design, provides quality care for early childhood. The morning offered an educational and uplifting experience shared by the PEP staff. The staff took pictures and recorded many wonderful ideas represented in each center and will share them at our June 14th staff meeting. You are welcome to join us for the photo tour, just let me know you’d like to attend. Wanted Fathers and Grandfathers…for PEP’s Father’s Day Celebration on Thursday, June 14th from 4 to 5pm. Come share the afternoon with your youngster(s) at PEP…an activity, snack and fun are on the agenda. You do not want to miss it! Watch for an invitation in your family mailbox for Dad and Grandfather(s) too! Wednesday, June 20th PEP’s summer program will get rolling…two, three or four wheels rolling that is. The Park’s Edge Preschool’s Bike Blessing will start the summer off with Pastor Bill blessing the PEP children’s bikes. Every child may bring a wheeled toy from home to be blessed. A ‘thank you’ in advance to Pastor Bill for blessing our bikes and starting our summer safely and spiritually at Park’s Edge Preschool. Thursday, June 28th is PEP Picture Day with Life Touch (again?). Originally, we scheduled a photo shoot with Sylvia and Magic Photographer’s. However, I am sad to report here that Sylvia, the magical photographer, has retired
and the company felt she cannot be replaced. Happy retirement Sylvia…now
you’re the one smiling A traditional family favorite is…AugustFest! This year’s family fun event for all ages will be held on Sunday, August 5th. AugustFest wristbands for the children are sold in advance at PEP or will be available at AugustFest. Unlimited games, inflatables and a children’s meal (hot dog, chips and a pickle) all for only $15.00 wristband. The tug-of-war between Emanuel Church and Park’s Edge Preschool was lovingly named the ‘John Farina Memorial Tug of War’ in honor of the former Emanuel Church’s Building and Grounds Trustee! We look forward to this year’s AugustFest and the Tug-of-War Challenge! Incidentally, PEP has won the last two years competition! Be sure to watch for details of the summer highlight…you don’t want to miss it! Keeping our cool at PEP now that summer weather is finally here! The staff do apply sunscreen and hydrate the children regularly to keep them safe and healthy! Children stay in at temperatures of 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Please be sure your child has a swim-suit and towel daily for water play. Thank you!
Sincerely, Ellen M. Kvalheim

with. Finley has been working on his animal sounds and identification.
We would like to welcome Natalia
and her family to our class! We are anxious to get to know her!
Holy Mole,y it’s summer already? Where did the time go? This month
we will be learning about so many fun things such as, zoo animals. Many of my friends LOVE zoo
animals!
We will also celebrate how awesome our fathers are, All fathers

father’s day celebration on Thursday, June 14th from 4-5 where
there will be an activity in your child’s classroom.

is the time to change out your child’s spare clothing
in their cubby and make sure they are weather
appropriate. They will also need a sun hat for our daily walks. Also, don’t forget to
check your child’s daily sheet for any items they may need. If your child will not
be in attendance on a regular scheduled day,
please call by 9am. Our Love Bug friends are
really growing as fast as the summer weather came.
Abram is getting all around the room by crawling and Sofia is starting to hop on
her bottom across the floor. Our child of the month is
Parker. He loves to look as himself in the mirror and go
outside for walks. He has also started sitting up
without support! We hope everyone has a wonderful
start to their summer.
Ms. Nicole & The Love Bugs
Welcome Summer! Last month we said farewell to
Weston and his family as he moves over to the Beautiful
Butterflies. We also welcomed Donovan and his
family to the Love Bugs classroom.
We hope all mothers and grandmothers enjoyed our
Mother’s Day Breakfast. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for more information
on our Father’s Day Celebration on June 14th.
If you haven’t already, now
Last month we welcomed Weston and his family to our classroom. He is fitting right in and loves to clap along with all of us. Our other
Butterflies are really growing along as well. Bodie likes to play with the
blocks and Vincent is pulling himself up. Maximilian is walking all over
and enjoys the playground. Phoebe loves to sing and Ezekiel is really
babbling and walking a lot. Please remember to have weather
appropriate clothing for the summer in their cubbies. It is also helpful to have a sun hat and shoes here daily.
Can’t believe we are talking summer already-Happy June! Some of our
themes this month include Dinosaurs, Zoo Animals and My
Father-My Hero. We will celebrate fathers and grandfathers on
Thursday, June14th, so make sure to watch for details in your mailboxes. Happy 1st birthday to Coral 6/3 and Bodie 6/29. Coral will be our child
of the month. She loves pulling herself up and is a smiling, happy
baby.
A fun activity to do during the summer with your family is to go outside, use your senses and enjoy the sights, sounds, and colors of
summer. This month we also challenge you to sit down to a nice
meal with your family and talk about your favorite summer
activities. We hope everyone has a fabulous
start to their summer.
Ms. Julie, Ms. Jacoba & Ms. Adele?
What a marvelous May we
had! We enjoyed celebrating mom this month and are so
excited to start caring for our garden that we planted. We can’t wait to see the fruits of
our labor. We are working on using our walking feet inside and would
love it if parents can help reinforce this at home. This month we will be
celebrating our fathers, so stay tuned for information on our Father’s Day celebration.
We are excited for our themes which include; Zoo Animals,
My Father-My Hero, Busy Builders and Welcome
Summer. As the weather is warming, please check cubbies and
make sure you have appropriate spare clothing.
Also with the summer weather we will be looking forward to water play days. Be sure to watch for notes with reminders to bring a swim suit/ swimmer and
towel. If you’d like you can get some to keep here in your
child’s cubby. Our child of the month is
Matilyn. She likes to pretend
in dramatic play and with the animals. Matilyn also likes
dancing. Be sure to come in, look at her pictures and say,
“hi!” Lastly, please bring in a
picture or note of one thing your child likes about
summer. We are making a board with all the ideas brought in. You can also
e-mail these to [email protected] We hope everyone has a great
start to their summer.
Ms. Emily & Ms. Mary
example, for some fieldtrips you might
need socks, tennis shoes, a bag lunch,
etc.
In addition, please check your child’s
cubby to make sure they have an extra set
of spare clothes that are weather
appropriate for summer. Keeping a spare
towel, swimsuit, are required for water
days. Water shoes are a good idea as well.
All sandals must have a back strap on
them for safety reasons. PLEASE LABEL
ALL OF YOUR ITEMS! Thank you for keep-
ing these things in mind. We will have a
fantastic summer!
Along with things listed above, please
make sure your child has a blanket for rest
time. As the temperatures get warmer
outside, we do turn the air conditioning on
Happy June to all of you! We are so excited
for all of the new things
coming up soon in our Fantastic Frogs
classroom. There are so many exciting
activities planned for summer, along with
some wonderful fieldtrips! There are just a
couple of things we would like you to keep
in mind to help the children have a safe
and fun summer. First, there will be a
binder that has all of the fieldtrip sheets
for the whole summer. We need a parent
signature and phone number for each
fieldtrip. This is something you can fill out
ahead of time to save time on fieldtrip
mornings. Also, we ask that your child be
here a half hour before the time we plan to
leave for a fieldtrip. Please keep an eye
out for special postings of events, or
things that may be needed for the day. For
and it gets a little chilly. We do not have
enough extra blankets for everyone.
Finally, we are working very hard to remind
the children how to treat books with kind-
ness. This is something you can work on at
home as well by talking about how to
look at books without ripping pages and
putting them away so no one steps on
them. Speaking of books, why does an
elephant use her trunk as a bookmark? So
she NOSE where she stopped reading!
Enjoy the sunshine!
Ms. Caitlin & Ms. Michele
ALL children have a spare swim suit and towel in their cubbies, so we may have swim days. We will,
of course, do our best to post about these but sometimes a
fantastic opportunity to get wet may arise and a swimsuit on hand
would be handy for us!
This months “homework” (family engagement activity) will be
create a crazy zoo animal. Students will pick out a zoo
animal from our books and we will send a copy of this animal
home with them and we are hoping that you and your child will create one crazy looking
animal. We will then place these animals in our “zoo”. We hope you have and as always be as crazy and creative as your imagination will take you! Just a couple friendly
reminders – Zoo Creations due June 11th
Please check art folders daily – June 14th Father’s Day Celebration
4-5 p.m. –
Thank you one and all for a great “school-year” and let the
summertastic adventure begin!
Ms. Sandra, and Ms. Jenele
Wow June, you snuck up on us! Can you believe June is here
already? We are so excited to kick start our summer! This summer is
sure to be amazerous! We will have Granny’s Treats – An ice
cream truck- on Thursday’s that we get to pick a treat from. We also look forward to in house
field trips and the always favorite school-age, “We Are Family” projects! (We will work with
School-Agers on various projects through-out the summer). Our class can not wait to start it all.
With the ensuing warmer weather and summer days, we ask that

Bring on the summer heat with June! This month will be the start of our Summer Program
and we will be going on our first field trip on June 15th to St.
Ann's Aquatic Center. Another exciting event we will be doing
this June is our Father's Day Celebration on the 14th at 4:00 PM we hope to see you there!
Even though it is hot outside it gets cool in our classroom; it would be helpful if your child
had a zip-up or hoodie that they
could keep in their cubby if they are feeling too cold.
May was also full of excitement. We learned about
bugs and dinosaurs! During our bug week, we used teamwork to build a spider web out of string
on the floor! We then had fun skipping and hopping through the spider web so we didn't get stuck! During dinosaur week,
we watched a video that talked about animals that are alive
today that are related to
dinosaurs! Our outside classroom excitement was
Preschool Graduation! We watched and celebrated our
friends moving on to Kindergarten! We will miss
them next year!
Please make sure all your Summer Packets get turned in
for summer fun! Also, watch for the daily fieldtrip sign-up
sheets in the classrooms as well. We are all looking forward to an
amazing summer!
Ms. Tori & The Shining Stars
Thursday, June 14th at 4pm.
We look forward to seeing all
the dads and grandpas.
Our first field trip will be
Friday, June 15th to St. Ann’s
Aquatic’s. Please make sure
your child has a swim suit
and towel. Also, children will
need spare clothes in their
cubbies. Spills and accidents
do happen, especially when
we’re having so much fun.
Some field trips have
special requirements, so be

the beach in the summer?
A: A hot dog!
Hello summer! This year is
going to be a blast, so make
sure all your summer packet
forms are turned in. Keep
your eyes out for signature
forms and sunscreen forms
as well. The last day of
school is Friday, June 8th,
woohoo!
We will be having our
Father’s Day celebration on
sure to watch for reminder
signs.
Mr. Matt and Ms. Anna have
been collaborating to plan
some wonderful activities
including giant bubble and
colored rain. We also can’t
wait for the ever popular,
Mentos experiment.
We hope everyone has a
wonderful start to their
summers.
Ms. Anna & Mr. Matt
Now that summer program is
starting, it’s going to be so
much fun. Our days will be
packed with learning and
excitement. Please keep an
eye open for fieldtrip sign up
sheets. This sheet is for every
out of center fieldtrip. Also,
be aware of what field trips
are for the next day and any
requirements. We will have
signs as reminders to bring
items such as swim suits,
towels, bagged lunch, socks,
etc.
Hello June! The summer is
here and we finally have the
weather to prove it. I’m sad to
say goodbye to some of our
families, we will truly miss
you. It was a joy to be with
your children this school year.
I loved getting to know each
and every one of you. We all
worked very hard this year
getting ready for Kinder-
garten (Ha! See, I even
spelled it right).
For your child’s cubby, please
bring extra clothes and an
extra swimsuit and towel if
they have one. You can also
just bring clothes they can get
wet in. If you have any
questions or concerns, feel
free to come and talk to me.
Hope everyone has a safe and
wonderful summer.

Parent Advisory Council
Hello…are you ready for summer fun? We are at Park’s Edge Preschool! We have a season planned with fun-filled activities and field trips. As you will see the summer is a busy time of year at PEP. I am confident
the summer will pass all too quickly…because we are having a lot of fun…and educational too!
I am excited to share with you that we have hired two college students from UW-Oshkosh. They will be helping in the classrooms and participating on field trips too. Mr. Matthew is majoring in early childhood and
special education. Ms. Miranda is a nursing student with only one more semester to go. Her plan after graduation is to become a pediatric nurse. (In answer to your question…no, they did not know each other in
college.) All PEP staff are required to have a background check and be finger-printed through the FBI.
We do allow parents to help chaperone fieldtrips. Let us know if you are interested in participating. A background check is required to be completed before allowing parents to go along as chaperones. Thank you!
Warm Regards,
Kristin, Burr, Assistant Director
Thanks again to all the parents for attending PEP’s Conference Night held Thursday, May 10th. It is a pleasure meeting with each individual family to discuss your child’s developmental progress. We know the time allotted for conferences passes all
too quickly. I want to encourage you to call during naptime if there is anything else you’d like to discuss with your child’s teacher(s). Your child’s portfolio is accessible to families anytime. It is always fun looking back at the milestones and realize
how quickly they grow up; isn’t it?
Thank you for taking the time to complete the NAC Parent Survey. Seventy-five percent of our families enrolled need to
complete the survey. The survey results are sent to the Association for Early Learning Leaders the governing board of NAC
Accreditation and reviewed in meeting accreditation standards. Your feedback is valuable in encouraging the highest level of
quality care. The results are tallied and shared with our staff as well in better serving the needs of each of our families at
Park’s Edge Preschool. Thank you.
