Preemptivelyshuttingoffpowerisalastresortinourpreventionandmitigationstrategy.Althoughdisruptiveforourcustomers,preemptivelyshuttingoffpowertoourlinesmaybenecessarytoensurethesafetyofourcommunitiesandemployeeswhenextremeweatherconditionspresentaclearandimminentdanger.

varietyoffactorswhichmayinclude,butarenotlimitedto,thefollowing:
• TheNationalWeatherServicehasissuedRedFlagWarnings*forcountiesthatcontainSCEcircuitsinHighFireRiskAreas
• OngoingassessmentsfromtheSCEin-housemeteorologistsregardingthelocalconditionsrelatedtowindspeed,humidity,andtemperatureinformedbystrategicallydeployedweatherstations

PSPSevent,andwillattempttonotifycustomersagainapproximately24hoursbeforepowerisshutoff.Additionalnotificationswillbemadethroughouttheoutage,whenpowerhasbeenshutoffandwhenithasbeenrestored.TheremaybesituationswhichpreventSCEfromprovidingadvancenotice.Theactualonsetofextremeweatherconditionsandothercircumstancesbeyondourcontrolmayimpactcoordinationandnotificationefforts.

6. Q: HowwillSCEcoordinatewithlocalgovernments,emergencyoperationsofthelocal governmentsandfirstrespondersbeforeandduringaPSPSevent?
A. • InadvanceofPSPSevents,SCEwillmeetwithlocalgovernmentstoinformthemabout thePSPSprotocol,includingthelocationofcircuitsintheirjurisdictionswhichmaybe shutoffduringaPSPSevent
• SCEwillactivateanIncidentManagementTeam(IMT)whenaPSPSeventisapossibility.
– TheIMTwillmanageboththeoperationalandcommunicationtasksassociatedwithanevent,whichincludesinterfacingwithlocalgovernments’emergencyoperations,firstresponderssuchaspoliceandfireagencies,withothergovernmentagencies,andessentialcustomerssuchashospitals
