UNIT: HLTAID001 (St John Reference: CPR14)

OverviewThis assessment only course is aimed at health care professionals, experienced first aiders and those wanting a first aid refresher course. It ensures the participants hold the necessary skills and knowledge to sustain life, reduce pain and minimise the consequence of injury or sudden illness until medical aid arrives.

Please note: it is an assessment requirement of this course that the participant be able to competently perform two minutes of continuous adult CPR on the floor.

As per the First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice, First Aiders should attend training on a regular basis to refresh their first aid knowledge and skills and confirm their competence to provide first aid. The Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) www.resus.org.au recommends the CPR competency be recertified annually.

Pre-requisitesThis is an assessment only course and therefore those who stuggle with independent learning, have language or literacy di�culties, or other special needs may find this class unsuitable. New First Aiders or those who require some assistance may benefit from undertaking the PROVIDE FIRST AID 1 DAY or PROVIDE FIRST AID 2 DAY course.
