DearKHII ,
Becoming a graduate of the Kellogg- HKUST EMBA progr,lm carries a significance beyond the degree's academic qualification. Our ai m has been to develop you as socially responsible leaders and our hope is that you integrate this outlook into your ca reer goal and to turn it into action, to benefit your employing organization as well as the wider community in Asia and around the world.
Socially responsible leadership requires you to be awa re of the major economic impact, environmental impact, and social impact of your company's operation, ,1I1d to take steps to improve the results for all major stakeholders concerned. It is the ki nd of task that yields rewards beyond what our eyes can see.
\'Ve try to set an example here at the School of Business. In addition to our emphasis on corporate social responsibility in the program's curriculum and activities, we IV,lIlt to see business and management knowledge at work to help non-profit groups operate more eftl ciently and effec tively. The newly est, lblished KelloggHKUST Executive MBA NPO Award wi ll help to make EMBA education more aAordable for executives from non-profit organizations.
Helping others to help themselves is a highl)' effec tive form of di scharging social responsibility. I wo uld like to commend our alumni who have been putting this into practice through local community work and participation in overseas projects such as building schools in China. I commend you also for keeping and extending this tradition with your donation to an NCO for building a school in Vietnam.
You have the talent and experience in leadership, and your training in the EMBA program will help you become even more eftec tive and innuentialleaders.
