Creative Industry
• I am currently in my third, and final year of Television and Film Production at the University of Portsmouth
• Once I have graduated I hope to go into the television industry. Although I am still interested in film, television interests me more.
• In the television industry I would like to be either a producer or floor manager.
Producer
One of the roles I am interested in, is the role of the producer.
This role entails such things as overseeing the production of a show or programme.
Overseeing a production includes lots of paperwork, such as budgets and call sheets, so it is important to be well organised for such a role.
Floor Manager
My other role I would like to be in the television industry is a floor manager.
Being a floor manager you are in charge of all the crew on set, making sure everyone knows what they are doing, that everything is working and running to time.
To be a floor manager you need certain skills such as confidence to lead a group and an understanding of the equipment that is being used on set.
Tumblr
I use my tumblr blog to promote my videos and repost articles and pictures for example from the library. I have chosen to create 2 blogs, one for the industry and one for personal use. I decided to do this so I would not create the wrong impression towards possible employee’s.
For the layout of my tumblr blog I have kept it simplistic and clean. I have done this so it is easy to navigate around and the background, for example is not too distracting.
Website
To accompany my tumblr I have created a website solely devoted to my work. I have done this so it is all in one place for people to view and also a chance
to show my work off to potential employers. I am also in the process of purchasing a domain name for my website.

Business Cards and LogosFor my business card I have teamed up with Oliver Tubb, who is currently in his third year studying illustration at the University of Portsmouth also.
The main image that I would like to incorporate in my logo and business cards is the caricature of my profile. I have decided to try and use this as it is something you don’t see everyday, and I hope to grab people’s attention with it. To the left is an example of this image.
Business Cards
This year I am Head of Entertainment at UPSU TV, this means I already have a business card, although I am going to make my own personal ones for when I graduate. To the left, is the card I currently have and on the next slide are a few ideas of what I want when I graduate.
From the card I already have it gives me ideas what needs to be on my next one, such as a QR code straight to my work, my social network links and most importantly, several ways of getting in touch with me,
Logo
To go with my business card I am also in the process, with the help of Oliver of creating a logo to appear on my business cards, website, social medias and more.
Here are a couple of ideas that we have so far come up with. At the moment they are created from online resources until I have opportunity to create my own from scratch.
Show Reel
To truly show off my skills that I have gained in the past 3 years I am currently in the process of putting together a show reel which I can upload to my blog, linkedIn and website. Due to other commitments I am still in the planning stage of my show reel, so here are some of the notes and storyboards of what I plan to do.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths
• With the use of my tumble blog, website, business card designs and show reel I have given myself a good chance of promoting myself positively for starting work in the industry.
• The research and website / blog building have given me new skills which I can also mention.
Weaknesses
• I do not have my showreel ready to send out.
• My business cards are still in the development stage.
• I have been busy with other work and have not been keeping my blog up to date, as I had planned ot do at the start of the year.
