It’s also a flexible tour, being split into 3 trips,
so join us for as little or as long as you like!
Whether you are seeking a tough cycling
challenge, a more moderate pace, or just want
to come along for the ride, the choice is yours
– we’ll make it happen for you.
While the complete tour passes through 6
countries, we linger the longest in Italy. From
the 1000-year-old-city of Prague, known for
its architecture and history, we cycle through
the forests of Bohemia and on to the alpine
wonderlands of Austria and Bavaria. Once
over the Dolomites in northern Italy we can
explore Venice at leisure. From the grand port
city of Genoa there is spectacular cycling down
the coast and on to the cultural treasures of
Florence, Siena, and Rome. Then we sail the
Adriatic to bask in the mellow Grecian sunshine
as we take in the countryside via Patras and
Corinth to Athens. Next, Turkey where West
meets East to experience both the ancient and
the modern, from timeless landscapes and
monuments to vibrant cities such as Izmir and
Istanbul.
This trip takes us through Middle, Western
and Southern Europe: the Czech Republic,
Germany, Austria and Italy. Starting in Prague
— the “Paris of the East” — we follow the
river Vtlava through the forests and towns
of South Bohemia. The beer is world-famous
and the cuisine amazing. Then it’s the picture-
postcard beauty of Austria, past alpine lakes
and castles to beautiful villages such as Bad
Ischl, where the benefits of cycling can be
undone at the local patisseries. We cross the
German border into Bavaria, through breath-
taking mountain towns such as Berchtesgaden
and Obersalzberg – once seized by Hitler
as his stronghold, but even more beautiful
in freedom today. Next it’s back towards
Salzburg and other Austrian towns, over
the Grossglockner High Alpine Road with its
switchbacks, through the Dolomites, past the
resort town of Toblach to our destination:
Venice, arguably the world’s most beautiful
city. There’s time here to relax on a gondola
ride, see St Mark’s Square, the Bridge of
Sigh and the colourful islands of Burano and
Murano, hopefully with a gelato (and map) in
hand!

The second trip is all about Tuscany and
Rome. And why not? Tuscany has it all –
amazing cycling, art, fashion, coffee, wine,
food, shopping... We spend two nights at most
stops, so we can see such places as Florence,
Siena, and Rome. From Lucca we travel to the
opposite coast and into the heart of Tuscany.
We ride through a landscape of lemon trees,
olive groves, vineyards, churches, and castles
to Pisa and Florence, the cultural jewel of
Tuscany. We swing inland to spend two nights
in the medieval city of Siena, then traverse
beautiful countryside to the Rennaissance town
of Pienza, and then on to Rome! There’s a huge
amount of ancient (and modern) culture to be
explored. See the Colosseum, visit the Vatican,
or make a wish at the Trevi Fountain – maybe
your wish involves pizza and vino!

Trip 3 features 3 countries with some of the world’s oldest heritage sites, with of course some amazing riding! From Rome we take a train through the verdant south of Italy to the east coast city of Bari, before taking the overnight ferry from Brindisi to the exuberant Grecian town of Patras. Here in the cradle of Western civilisation we bask in the Mediterranean sunshine, stopping over in the town of Diakopto before heading round Corinth to the stunning seaside resort of Loutraki with its flashy casino. Then we head through mountainous countryside to one of the world’s oldest cities: Athens. There’s time to breathe in the feeling of the 11 millennia of history here in the birthplace of democracy! After checking out the ancient Acropolis and the modern markets, we ferry to Turkey’s westernmost town of Cesme. Then it is through a landscape of amazing architecture, viticulture and windmills. Turkey is a unique bridge between West and East, with a rich Muslim heritage. We spend time in the metropolis of Izmir with its incredible Ottoman buildings, then through the Canakkale province which straddles both Europe and Asia, and includes ancient Troy. The next day we ride to Gallipoli along the narrow isthmus connecting the Mediterranean Sea to the Marmara Sea. We have a full day to pay our respects at Gallipoli before our tour ends in the fascinating city of Istanbul. You may well wish to stay on longer!
