EU Civil Protection activities

• The EUCP Team comprised of 10 experts from 8 Participating States is present in strategic points for the emergency management: Quito and Portoviejo with Liaison Officers embedded in the National Operations Centre in Quito and working with the OSOCC in Portoviejo.

• On 25 and 26 April, the structural damage assessment teams deployed through the EUCPM have assessed a total of 130 buildings.

• The French water purification module has been providing drinking water in different parts of Chone since 25 April. Two other French water purification units are working in Calceta and Flavio Alfaro.

Landslide in Santo Domingo province

• Heavy rains and the overflowing of the river Damas devastated Alluriquin Parrish (Santo Domingo province) along the Aloag-Santo Domingo road.

• As a result of a landslide 4 people died, 15 houses were destroyed, 80 houses were affected and basic infrastructure reported damages.

• The landslide has created difficulties in traffic complicating the delivery of humanitarian aid from Quito to the areas affected by the earthquake.
