TEMPLO SINAI YOUTH MINISTRY REBECCA VALENTINE
TEMPLO SINAI YOUTH MINISTRY
• The mission of this organization is to provide the youth with additional knowledge on how to deal with life situations in a positive and spiritual manner following scripture based lessons.
• Blending formal and informal learning and flipping classroom are the two technologies being implemented within this organization (NMC, 2015).
• This organization has purchased a projector and computer to help facilitate more visual features.
• They also provide the youth with outside assignments to then return with more insight to share during group discussion.
Pros
A wide variety of digital networks, platforms, and
content resources will help learners and learning agents connect and learn.
(Recombinant, 2012).
“School’’ will take many forms, sometimes it will be self-organized
(A Glimpse, 2014).
ConsIncrease in the cost
of technology.
Many schools will
close down because
of drastic changes.
If we do not effectively engage in ongoing
education recombination, we risk letting the
disruptions of the coming decade perpetuate
inequities for learners, undermine the learning ecosystem’s capacity to adapt, and narrow the impact of education
innovations by keeping them largely
uncoordinated, opportunistic and
fragmented (Recombinant, 2012)
EDUCATIONAL
TECHNOLOGY TRENDS
Mobile Devices:
Online Learning:
Fifty-two percent of young children (0-8)
have access to a smartphone, video
iPod, or tablet such as an iPad or Android
device (Common Sense Media, 2011).
Computer based learning can provide students with
the freedom to access information in a flexible
environment and to connect with that
information in different ways as best suits their learning style (Leer &
Ivanov, 2013).
$44,370 at a private, nonprofit, four-year
institution living on campus
$22,190 at a public, in-state four-year institution living
on campus
$8,530 one year at a public, in-state, two-year institution while living off campus with
family
These amounts have increased anywhere from 4% to 7% over the past four years. Irrespective of which type of institution a student attends, the total cost has been rising sharply, and most families
struggle to afford the opportunity (College Enrollment, April 2015).
Cost for a full time student in higher education
2013-2014.
DEMOGRAPHIC TRENDS • The overall college participation rate has increased over the
past 27 years. • The college participation rates of Blacks and Hispanics also
increased.
In 2008, approximately… • 32 percent of Blacks 18- to 24-year-olds were enrolled in colleges or
universities (an increase of 12 percentage points from 1980)• 26 percent of Hispanic 18- to 24-year-olds were enrolled (an increase of
10 percentage points from 1980) (Aud, S & Fox, M & KewalRamani pg 120)
You don’t need to invent
the wheel -just find new uses for it (Randell,
2010).
