Project Varna’s New LibraryLocationVarna, Bulgaria TypeCompetition Project DateNovember, 2015 DescriptionThe new library is an eleven storeys multifunctional building, projectedand designed for durable materials with a minimum impact on the citycontext. Main entrance is facing a complex ofplazas and green areas.Ground level has a lobby and a cafeaccessible from the outside plaza,users can find vertical connectionsfor accessing upper levels. First level includes an exhibition area and auditorium, the upper levels are planned for library, offices and storage.Greent erraces are planed to prevent heat loss and geothermal energy is produced to supply the building.

The project is a born after the Milano Expo 2015,is a proposal of regeneration after this event.The first phase consists on analyzing and studdingthe area, in order to resolve the social problemsand tension , generated by the multi ethnicalpopulation, that exist in the zone, by creating acomplex sustainable territory and avoid theextensive zoning that has been created in therecent years. By mapping the problems and thepositive aspects that are present in the area, we generate our first main plan. The next phase is todefine the spaces by first assigning the activities,that are necessary to resolve the area problems.The current face is the general organization of space.

Comes as a result of problems and positive aspects located on the area analyzed on the first face. Colors represent main aspects to considerate. Blue, the introduction of water in to the area. Green, consideration of landscape. Yellow, social aspects.

Fiera di Milano

Proposed as a regenerating element for the whole are, it will link the city and the project. It will be intended as small-scale farming administered and developed by local population by offering new social and recreational spaces.

Water inside the project will be recycled and used as irrigation for the fields

Agiculture

The existing structure of the Milan exposition center will be integrated and connected into the project by offering the visitors the experience of going inside the fields.

Sustainable climate control By using natural elements, cost of cooling and heating will be reduced. Solar panels will be located on the surfaces and insulating materials help to reduce temperature transfer.

Monalisawood pavillion

The objective is to create a flexible space for a pavilion that could be used in any exposition.The advantage of designing it on wood is to make it light and easy to construct and transport. Having a maximumheight of 3,60 meters it brinks the user an indoor experience but at the same time keeps him in contact outside of the pavilion, it also gives the user thefreedom to sit on any of these curves.The model is being done by parametricdesign having seven points of control that modify the curves and give thepavilion its shape. All the wood pieces are individually designed in order to beassembled in few time.

Description

Interior Plaza Semi public space for residents, with amenities

including garden, fountains and access to anindoor pool and fitness area, also social activities.

Located on Narvarte neighborhood in Mexico City.The project consits of three towers, intercepted creatingdifferent configurations of apartments and terraces.

Project developed in V+R Arquitectos www.vrx.com.mx

Apartments go from 60 to 120 sq. meters having four types.The facades are mostly glass in order to have luminous spaces,supported by an internal structure.

The hotel offers many public andsociable areas that are planned forthe integration of diverse functionsdeveloped on the building.

Originally constructed in the 80’s, these suburban 450 sq. meters home was completelyremodeled by using “hunacaxtle” tropical wood as a concept material. The project included the re-design of interior spaces by introducing local stones as floors and walls.

The garden was revaluated by opening glass doors, creating a deck area and designing itwith the use of local species.
