Pneumatic Power Fundamentals

Water is essential to life. People drink it, cook with it, fish and swim in it, use it toproduce electricity.... Air is just as essential as water. People breathe it, play in it (sailing, kiteflying, hang gliding), and we can also use it to do work.

This module describes the uses and history of fluid power; the operating characteristics,advantages, and disadvantages of pneumatic systems; and the function, structure, and operationof basic pneumatic components. It also identifies potential hazards related to the use ofpneumatic systems and the safety procedures and rules mandatory for those who work withpneumatically operated equipment.
