NYU  SPEED  MENTORING  EVENT       IN  THIS  ISSUE

On  the  evening  of  Jan  22nd,  NYU-‐SPS  campus  was  filled  with  close  to  60  eager  students,  PMI  members  and  non-‐PMI  members  for  a  Speed  Mentoring  Event.  It  was  a  great  collaborative  event  between  PMI-‐NYC  and  NYU-‐SPS

Speed  mentoring  extends  the  speed-‐networking  concept  to  professional  learning  and  development  in  an  engaging  format.  This  initiative  gives  participants  the  opportunity  to  network  and  learn  from  experienced  advisors  in  short  bursts  of  time

Evening  was  quite  a  success  with  our  esteemed  9-‐mentor  team:

Rabih  Vincent  Alali,  PMP,  MBA,  CPHIMS,  Charles  Cirronella,  ITIL.    John  Conti,  PMP,  Edward  Kleinert,  MBA,  MPH,  PMP,  Lawrence  Mantrone,  PMP,  CSM  ,  Mary  Anne  Martucci,  PMP,    Holly  Ripley,  PMP,  CSM  PMI-‐NYC  President  Elect  ,  Frank  Saladis,  PMP,  PMI-‐Fellow,  PMI-‐NYC    President  ,    Cark  Webb,  PMP,  CCM

Each  mentee  was  assigned  with  their  choice  of  4  topics  in  the  4  -‐  30  min  sessions.    Topics  for  the  evening  include:

• The  Power  of  Networking  –  Who  you  know  can  change  your  career  path,

• The  Temple  of  Project  Management,

• Stakeholder  Communication  and  Collaboration  -‐  Key  to  Project  Success,

• Job  Offers  and  Negotiations  (winning  strategies),

• Developing  Leadership  Skills,  • Effective  Project

Communications

Networking  session  where  the  participants  were  eager  to  learn  more  followed  the  event.  Due  to  the  interest  and  the  energy  this  generated  NYU  SPS  and  PMI  NYC  are  planning  more  events  for  the  future.

Closing  remarks  were  given  by  Tatiana  Riviera  and  Suzan  Cho  to  stress  the  value  of  these  programs  and  how  NYU  SPS  and  PMI  NYC  can  be  utilized  to  further  their  growth  in  Project  Management
