o Name of film & why
o The scene will begin in the protagonist’s laboratory, with a spot light on where she
is conducting experiments and biopsies on the supposedly dead human. The
zombie will awaken whilst the scientist’s back is turned and attempt to attack. The
protagonist will leave the laboratory where the chase scene will begin through the
corridors. She will then attempt to find safety in a room, but struggles to access the
room due to a faulty key. The scientist gains entry to the room where she peers out
of a small window looking for the zombie. A passer-by will appear and be eaten by
the zombie. The scientist will then escape from the room and run towards some
double doors with the zombie chasing her. Both characters will exist through the
double doors with the scene ending there.
FILM SYNOPSIS
We will be establishing characters in our title sequence. Our scientist will be
established by their outfit, as they will be wearing a hazmat suit, along with rubber
gloves and safety goggles. Another way to establish this character will be how we
see that they are in the lab with a zombie which they presume to be dead. The
marks on the zombie will indicate the scientist has been experimenting on it.
OUTLINE OF OPENING
SEQUENCE
The genre and subgenre will also be established, from the start we
will be able to see that the film is a horror as we see the zombie
attack and also kill one of the scientists co-workers. The subgenre
of the film will also be known as the audience will be able to see
that the film is the beginning of a zombie horror.

Film opening ideas
360 degree angle- show that the scientist (Gabriella) is alone in the room, but on the third 360 you will see her co-worker walk past the window in the door.
The scientist will look at the door and we will have a POV shot, with the camera shaking slightly so that the audience can sympathise with the character as they will see how scared she is.
During the chase scene we will use a track so that we can steadily follow the characters who are running.
When the scientist turns their back on the zombie at the beginning of the scene, slowly we will zoom into the zombies face. It will stop at an extreme close up of the zombies eyes, which is when they will open to display the zombies frightening eyes as we will be using coloured contacts.
In the scene we will see different laboratory equipment such as tools to experiment with and chemicals that you would expect to see in a lab.
The makeup that will be used in the opening will be the zombie makeup, this will include fake blood.
We will be displaying our titles right at the beginning as there will be a
sequence where we film parts of the lab, for example rows of beakers
containing different coloured liquids which represent the chemicals in the
laboratory, and preservation containers, the contents of which may be small
parts or either human or animal body parts.
The titles will consist of the cast, and anyone else who has helped within the
production.
The fonts that we will use will probably be quite grungy for bits such as the
title of the film, however for smaller texts such as the cast we may use a
simpler font such as Arial as this text will be smaller, hence being harder to
read.
USE OF TITLES
After extensive research in target audiences of horror movies which have been
in cinema in the past two years we see that the majority of people who go to
the cinema are aged 7-24 this age group makes up a 47% of total admissions
of the 165 million cinema tickets sold in the UK.
Then we narrowed it down using other horror movies as examples which have
been released recently like ‘Annabelle’ and ‘As above, So below’ which both
had their target audience set as 15-24 males.
TARGET AUDIENCE
MARKET FIT
0:11 -0:30
The Film ‘Zombieland’ contains zombie chase scenes.
This particular scene is similar to the part in our
opening scene where our scientist is being chased by
the Zombie
This is not just included in Zombieland, Zombie chase scenes can be seen in a
majority of Zombie films. Therefore our target audience would be similar to
the target audience of other Zombie films.
However our film has a Unique Selling Point. Our USP is that most zombie
films do not show how the Outbreak of zombies started. They just start in the
middle of the outbreak when there are a few survivors. This gives our film
something different to others.
MARKET FIT
o Location: The scene will begin in a science lab (classroom) and then go out
into the corridor.
o Props: Costumes for scientist and zombie like human, beakers full of
coloured water, jars full of preserved bits and bobs, experimental
equipment/tools, coloured contacts for zombie and fake blood.
o Technical equipment: a camera, a tripod, lighting equipment.
RESOURCES
Gabriella – Scientist (Lead Protagonist)
We will require a hazmat suit, rubber gloves and safety goggles.
Primary Zombie
We will use make-up and other special effects to make the zombie look like a
cold body, which has been dead for a long period of time and other surgical
marks to show the experiments
Scientist’s Co-worker (Second Zombie)
This character will start as a regular scientist with a white coat, but will be
savagely attacked by the first zombie. Near the end of the scene we will
replicate the first zombies make-up but to a minor degree because the
character has been dead much longer. Also this character will exhibit bite
marks which we will make with special effect make-up
