BruCe Barth – PianONYC-based jazz pianist and composer Bruce Barth has been sharing his music with listeners the world over for more than two decades. Deeply rooted in the jazz tradi-tion, his music reflects both the depth and breadth of his life and musical experiences. He’s a Grammy-nominated producer, with

more than 20 CDs to his credit, and has performed with his trio throughout the US and Europe.

Graham deChter – GuitarAn accomplished guitarist, composer and arranger, Dechter plays with the kind of swinging authority and seasoned maturity that belies his young age. The young Los Angeles native, a member of the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra since he was 19, shows a deep reverence for the jazz guitar tradition in his warm-toned renditions of

ballads, bossas, bebop and blues.

Jeff hamiltOn triOOriginality is what versatile drummer Jeff Hamilton brings to the groups he performs with and is one of the reasons why he is constantly in demand, whether he is recording or performing with his trio – which includes pianist Tamir Hendleman and bassist Christophy Luty – or the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, of which he’s co-leader. Award-winning pianist Tamir Hendelman’s talents have been in demand as both pianist and arranger, and he was a recent guest soloist with the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra. Bassist Christoph Luty is known for his big, natural sound, melodic bass lines and solos, and articulate arco playing.

Gary hOBBs – drumsA native of the Pacific Northwest, Hobbs lives in Vancouver, Wash. He has played profes-sionally for over four decades – including a 1975-1977 stint right out of high school with the Stan Kenton Orchestra – and appears on over 60 recordings. Hobbs is very active in jazz education, teaching at the University of Oregon and con-ducting clinics, concerts and jazz camps all over the nation.

GraCe Kelly – altO saxThis young Korean American saxo-phonist, singer, songwriter, composer and educator has headlined over 700 sets in over 30 countries at all major jazz festivals, from Montreux to Newport to Montreal.

reBeCCa KilGOre – VOCalsA Portland-based vocalist with more than 40 recordings to her name, Kilgore finds particular delight in preserving and interpreting the music of the Great American Songbook. She leads her own quartet, as well as being a frequent collabo-rator with legendary pianist Dave Frishberg.

lewis nash – drumsOne of the busiest drummers in the world, Nash appears on hundreds of recordings with the very best in jazz. Also a leader of his own band, he is known for his deep understanding of the music and for all the energy (and humor) he brings to each performance.

Ken PePlOwsKi – Clarinet, tenOr saxThe late Mel Tormé said, “Since the advent of Benny Goodman, there have been too few clarinetists to fill the void that Goodman left. Ken Peplowski is most certainly one of those few. The man is magic.” He’s been delighting audiences – most certainly OCJP ones – for over 30 years with

his warmth, wit, and virtuosic musicianship in all styles of jazz.

randy POrter – PianOA pianist, composer and arranger, Porter has a refined understanding of improvisation and the spontaneous communication between musicians. A teacher and recording artist living in Portland, Randy is a revered talent in the Northwest.

lynn seatOn – BassA strikingly gifted musician with brilliant tech-nique, this Grammy-winning virtuoso bassist is a master of all aspects of the bass player’s role in jazz. Based in Texas, he maintains a busy schedule of working and recording with many great jazz artists, and leading his own trio, and was selected as a Fulbright Scholar.

terell staffOrd – trumPetHailed as “one of the great players of our time, a fabulous trumpet player” by piano legend McCoy Tyner, Stafford is known for being a gifted and versatile player with a voice all his own, combining lyricism and a deep love of melody with a spirited, adven-turous edge. Stafford is the director of jazz studies and chair of instrumental studies at Temple University in Philadelphia.

aKiKO tsuruGa – hammOnd B3 OrGanA mainstay on the New York jazz scene since 2001, Tsuruga hails originally from Japan. She began playing the organ at the age of three, and studied at Osaka Univer-sity – and has come a long way since then. She’s famous as a leader or sideman on tour or at jazz clubs and venues on both U.S. coasts and abroad.

daVid tull – drums, VOCalsFor more than 25 years, Tull has been known in the Los Angeles area as a world-class jazz drummer, and since 2000 has toured the world as drummer and lead vocalist for Chuck Mangione. His 2009 CD “I Just Want to Get Paid!” drew critical ac-claim, and he also serves on the faculty of Pasadena City College.

tOm waKelinG – BassFormer music department chair at Clackamas Community College in Portland, Wakeling has put his bass to work in a 30-plus-year career on concert and night-club stages and in recording studios. He’s a popular guest artist at a wide variety of jazz and educational festivals and workshops, including OCJP in Newport.

sOuth euGene hiGh sChOOl VOCal Jazz ensemBleKnown as the Dorians Jazz Choir, this group of 16 to 20 advanced high school vocalists performs jazz genres including swing, bebop, Latin, ballads, funk and blues, amplified with a rhythm section. The choir is designed for students with advanced understand-ing of music theory and aural skills, under the direction of Chris Dobson.
