A leader is "a person who influences a group of people towards the achievement of a goal". A reminder for this definition would be 3P's – Person with a Purpose to influence People.

Peter was one of the most famous tsars in Russian history.
PETER THE GREAT
People in Russia were uncivilized, uneducated, and cruel.
PETER THE GREAT
Russia had no courts or court systems, nor system of government.

People lived in poverty, misery, and fear.
PETER THE GREAT
Peter ruled with his half brother Ivan and his half sister Sophia. When Ivan died in 1696, Peter ruled alone.

Peter was unique in many ways. He was six feet eight inches tall. He had great physical strength.

Peter wanted Russia to be as great as European countries.
PETER THE GREAT
He tried to learn everything he could when he went to Europe and disguised himself as a common soldier.

Russians in Europe had bad manners, and their customs were peculiar. They used chairs to make fire, and shot their guns at priceless paintings.

Peter’s dream was to create a powerful Russian navy, so he learned shipbuilding.
He also learned
watchmaking and
studied the human body. He sent machinery to Russia, scientific equipment, and even an English coffin.

Peter forced change in his country. He was cruel and heartless. Peter even ordered his own son, Alexis, to be killed because he did not agree with his father’s methods .

Peter made changes in the government, military, and religion.

He developed a new system of government and started Russia’s first newspaper.

Peter put a tax on everything. He left people without money. They paid taxes on everything from boots to drinking water.

He also wanted to make changes in people’s personal lives. All men had to shave their beards. To use a beard, the man paid taxes.

had complete power over women, so Peter also improved the lives of Russian women.
PETER THE GREAT He made men and
women eat together. He made them
dress like Europeans.
Women were not permitted to paint their teeth.
They could choose their husbands, contrary to tradition.
PETER THE GREAT Peter wanted
more land for his country. He went to war with Sweden and took over a lot of land.
He built a new capital city,
Saint Petersburg.
PETER THE GREAT
Peter died at the age of 53. Even though he died relatively young, Peter the Great transformed Russia into a modern power.
